10/10Food is absolutely amazing, tried a lot of the brunch options and cakes and none have disappointed. Price is very cheap for what you get. Good coffee, good staff. Not a bad word to say

I cannot fault the staff. They were very friendly. The food was good however I can't say it was anything special.. especially not for the price I paid. £10 got me a full English with 2 eggs 2 sausages 2 tomatoes 3 bacon some wedges and mushrooms. The food was good in taste and quality and came out piping hot. I had to pay £3 extra for a cup full of their "baffled spicy beans" and again they were nothing special. To be fair if you're going to brand beans in that way I feel they should be included in the breakfast and not as an extra. The hot chocolate I ordered was creamy and tasty as well but at £4 for a large, I've had better for less. All in all the food as a whole was good but considering the cafe has so much competition close by that offers similar quality for less, it's baffling (see what I did there) why they would have such steep prices and nothing unique to show for it.Finally I'd like to talk about the decor. The lighting is very dim which does make the place feel cozy but with the plasterboard covered counters and the 2oodennfloor board, it kind of feels like it's a place that is only half finished..Seating in the cafe is quite cozy and not in a good way. To one side is a long bench that covers the full wall with tables lined up covering the distance and a stool on the other side of each table. If you're going in for a quiet priv as the conversation forget it because as more people come in they are sitting right next to you with no separation at all... I get they are limited on space and have had 5o make do but when I'm eating I don't particularly want someone else's back side squeezing between the table to get onto the bench. All in all I'll give 4 out of 5 for food but I'll knock off 1 star for the price and I'll give 3 out of 5 for the actual look and feel of the cafe.

Amazing experience at Baffled coffee, had the Ruben along with a peanut butter and banana milkshake. Sat in the lovely back garden and enjoyed one of the best sandwiches of my life! I will be back!

Fantastic cafe. Great coffee, very filling sandwiches and well baked cakes. Their reuben sandwich is pretty well known around Portsmouth for good reason, it's one of my go-to cheat day treats. It is a little more expensive than your run-of-the-mill cafe, but the quality of food and service is more than worth paying for.

This little diamond of a place was recommended by my sister, we drove down from London and the Reuben Rapide was the best I’ve ever had, it melted in my mouth, full of flavour and presented beautifully, the gherkin was a touch along with the morning cake! .. one of the best meal deals I’ve ever had.. The staff are so friendly and it’s just a lovely vibe, better than anything in London by far ! It was worth the drive down to stop and have a lovely lunch at such reasonable prices! Can’t wait to come back!

Brilliant food with a rustic and cosy atmosphere:) would return again for sure purely for that salt beef!!

·

A very cute little cafe which serve great food, a vibrant atmosphere everyone is energetic. Stylish design which suits the younger generations. Had their salf beef muffin, its good in good size portion, coffee is great too.

Nice food and quick serviceSlightly crowded because it's quite popular. It needs a takeaway hut at the front of shop for people passing by instead of queueing inside with the diners

·

So impressed with the coffee, cakes and sandwiches on offer here. Definitely recommend The Ruben and will be returning soon!

Despite the name, this is not just a coffee shop. I've tried several of their delicious sandwiches, both hot and cold, over the last couple of months and then yesterday, a group of us tried their chicken salad (with separate, super tasty dressing), roast vegetable salad and, for pudding, triple chocolate brownies - they were all absolutely superb. I'd definitely recommend a visit.
