Hotwalls Cafe in Portsmouth

Absolutely love the breakfast stacks at 'The Canteen'. Service is always spot on and quick. Special mention to Tom, he always makes a point of saying 'Hi' and remembers returning customers really well which for me is above and beyond service.

Stopped during a dog walk for a spot of brunch. We had poached egg on sour dough toast and bacon, bread and butter pudding with hot drinks. Considering it was busy the wait time for our order to be taken or for food to arrive was very reasonable as was the price. Food was lovely but warm, not hot. The staff couldn't do enough even though they were rushed off their feet. Very pleasant stop off.

The atmosphere is nice and my friends enjoyed their meals.However my breakfast was inedible.I normally get pancakes or waffles with bacon and maple syrup for breakfast so I know what to expect.Their version of maple bacon waffle was drowned in so much cheap faux maple syrup that I couldn’t taste anything else.This was all hidden under a mound of crushed candied pecans which tasted slightly like sawdust but added a nice crunch.I managed 2 bites before giving up and resorting to toast.I assumed white bread was the standard for breakfast so was a bit surprised to be offered 2 slices of granary bread.The staff weren’t very gracious when I asked for an alternative but they did provide me with my desired bread.Would definitely recommend this cafe but not the maple bacon waffle.Perhaps they could offer the maple syrup in a separate jar?

You don't know how much I love this place！！！！It has amazing scenes. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Of course the food is great too. It's better to get there early 'cuz people love THE CANTEEN. Definitely It is a restaurant I wanna share with my friends. Next time I will try outdoor tables.

Brilliant breakfast spot with a variety of different food choices to sort all moods. Great vegetarian options available. Friendly staff. Had to wait for over 40mins to be seated (wait was expected due to it being Mother’s Day) but it would have been nice to be able to leave the queue and receive a text when table was available as other company’s do this. In and outdoor seating. Street parking (meter) on the same road. Will definitely be returning!

First time for our walking group visited the canteen..We just turned up unannounced..10 of us but they weren't phased lol they put a row of tables together and welcomed us in .The staff were very welcoming and chatty and fun .The atmosphere was lovely and welcoming ,the service was excellent .The coffees and teas were really good and those who ate said the food was great .We will be back ..I have their number now so prob will phone ahead lolIf the weathers warm enough n dry we would sit outside or on the balcony bit .

Medieval feeling while brunching within the fortress. Grabbin’ a bit with a sea view is always nice, even within the smaller chambers next to the terrace. Food is fantastic and staff are welcoming, certainly on my list to go again next time in Portsmouth.

Met up with a friend for brunch, and was very excited to see that the whole place is dog-friendly, not just the outdoor areas! We have a new rescue pup, and the staff were super in accommodating him on his first eatery experience!Food was great and coffee was tasty, as to be expected from the Coastal Kitchen group.Already planning a return trip!

We were given a voucher for Christmas so as hubby and I had the day off we thought we would have breakfast here. Absolutely Brilliant. Fantastic service, very clean, great food, highly recommended 👌
