Nicholsons in Portsmouth

An amazing variety of food- I think I ate the most I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant! The steak tapas was the best beef I’ve had in Portsmouth, and the bleu cheese mushrooms were delightfully light and delicious. We had six tapas in total- every dish was different but complimented well. Highly suggest a visit as a date- maybe not a first date as you share everything and I could see that being awkward, but my partner and I loved being able to try bits of each other’s food. She’s vegetarian and had PLENTY of options, the menu allowed for any manner of dietary requirements. I also reccomend their desserts, we had the crepe brûlée and some chocolate and marscapone dish that were perfect meal enders, also try a glass of the dessert Chardonnay to cleanse the palate after all the tapas. My partner loved their watermelon gin drink (new addition to their menu). Cannot rate highly enough, service was great too. Go hungry!!

Came for late night drinks after a long drive to see family before our trip abroad, a really lovely venue with a really up to date and modern aethestic, the staff are lovely, especially Darren our server who made us cocktails at the bar, he was full of knowledge and lovely to speak too.The rest of the staff were also really attentive and friendly, a lovely vibe and a proper gem of Southsea, I recommend a visit for tapas if you're in the area.

Three of us came here for tapas - loved it! Really nice atmosphere and super friendly service. Perfectly-sized menu of delicious dishes, really well cooked. Great sangria!Everything was excellent - highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing food, freshly made. Proper, authentic Spanish tapas, very nice sangria, perfect alioli! A delight! We will come back and recommend it to all our friends.

Always a great night at Nicholsons! Lovely food, great ambience, even better sangria! Portion sizes are insane for the tapas, which is actually a bit annoying as I want to taste all the things but can't fit them all in!! 😂 Definitely try it, it's a great reataurant

It's such a great place! We had a very delicious dinner with fantastic drinks. The enviroment is comfy, clean and very friendly. The most I enjoyed was waitress Natalia's smile. She was extremely friendly, her positive attitude and warm approach made our evening even more enjoyable. Thank you!

Tonight was our first experience here and the food was amazing!!! Natalia and Sam were amazing hosts and attended to our every need with a lively welcoming smile. They were knowledgeable of the menu and were able to give advice on what were their favourite dishes. Thanks to them we enjoyed aubergine for the first time. Thank you.

A great first experience.Tonight was our first experience at Nicholsons Tapas Restaurant. As well, this is the first time I am writing a review) The food was stunning. Everything we had melted in our mouths. The service was at the highest level. Natalia greeted us with a nice welcoming smile. She was extremely knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. She truly cared about our experience (not too often you can see that anywhere else), like a little fairy. Can’t wait to return there again. We wouldn’t be able to recommend this place enough. Definitely will come back.

A very pleasant little restaurant, which offers a Spanish themed menu and a selection of wines and cocktails. We had 9 tapas dishes between 3 of us, which was more than enough.Each dish was plentiful and very tasty. To finish, we managed a single serving of churros between us, which was authentic and lovely. The only downside for us was the single unisex toilet, with a poor standard of cleanliness. Other than that, we would highly recommend and we will be back.
