Booked by my partner for my birthday with two older kids and 3 young ones. Couldn't have been more accommodating, so happy to help and Great table service by our waitress georgie (she was amazingly kind, helpful and just happy, and I told her so!!) Lovely venue just older kids complained about the sun in their eyes but didn't take long to go down.

Came here with a hope of eat something really quick as we were one of the very few people in other than one other table. Starters came very quick and were very good but on the other hand mains were hit and miss. we ordered a sirloin which was good and chicken salad where there were only 3 tiny chicken strips and loads and loads of tomatoes. Had to literally dig through the pile of them before finding any chicken. We did leave the feedback so hopefully they listen. The other thing to mention is that the kids meal should have come first not the last.

I was expecting a lot from Bar n Bloc as I'd heard and read quite a few good things about this place. I was really disappointed. You don't get much for £28, and it wasn't particularly filling either. My meal came with 3 onion rings but I gave mine away as I don't like onion, and about a dozen chips. A couple of friends had the blue cheese sauce with theirs (I had peppercorn sauce), and it was pretty bad apparently. We were given the wrong knives for steak, and although cooked as asked (medium) it was a bit tough and chewy. 2 out of the 4 of us won't be going back.

Second visit, first time it was amazing. The second time was not. They had run out of about 12 items of drink and food. All our side were cold and sent back.So the steak was eaten without any sides.Very disappointing, we drove from London to treat our friends to a birthday meal.

Overpriced, long wait, our server didn’t know the difference from a fillet to a Rump steak, cleaning spray & cloth left on seats upon our arrival. Go somewhere else.

Whilst staying in the hotel next door, I booked a table for 8pm. When we arrived, it became apparent that they'd dramatically overbooked. They said we'd be seated in 10-15 minutes, but it actually took 50 minutes. After that, it took an exceptionally long time to receive our food - we got it at 9.45, an hour and 45 minutes after we arrived, and only after chasing multiple times. No updates or apologies were given and there was no deduction made from our bill. I wish they'd been honest about the situation when we first arrived - we could have gone somewhere else.

The food was delicious and our steak was cooked to perfection. A lovely atmosphere being Valentine’s Day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back.

Absolutely beautiful food, a ribeye 8oz and a rump 8oz topped with triple cooked chips and beer battered onion rings and a chocolate dome for pudding.Booked in advance as it is a Friday and to our thought it was quite busy.Criticism- The wait for service- taking orders etc… We had to wait a while to get hold of a waiter. Other than that a beautiful evening.

It was recommended to me by a friend. I went along and booked a table for later in the evening. It wasn't a disappoinment. The staff are very friendly and helpful from the manager to the waiting staff. I was served by Bianca she was very enthusiastic and very helpful. I ordered a sirloin steak and it was cooked exactly how I like it. They recommend a wine to go with the steak and it was perfect choice. (I could drink the wine on its own). If you are in Portsmouth and you want to spoil yourself go to the Bar +Block.

The interior had a nice steakhouse feel to it. The evening we were there, they were particularly busy. We were seated in good time. But it took half an hour to get our drinks. An hour for the food to come out. My girlfriend had the Ribeye steak, and for £24, it came out quite under cooked. Asked for it medium- rare it arrived blue! I had the mixed grill. Again, was a bit underwhelming considering the price. I believe this was a knock on effect from it being so busy. The staff were very friendly. I would definitely try this place again, as I see potential.
