The China Garden in Portsmouth

So, tried the China Garden after a 2 year absence and would like to post an honest review.*King prawns in salt and pepper - excellent. Big prawns and plentiful too.*BBQ spare ribs- tender and meaty, but sauce need to be richer to give that sweet sticky taste.*Chicken curry - lots of it, but the sauce used was not very flavourful and a bit powdery tasting, like it’s not cooked through.*Egg fried rice - very nice and plentiful.*Free mini spring rolls - nice touch!We will go back and use again, but there are so many dishes on the menu (inherited from previous owner), that I wonder if reducing and specialising would be the way forward?

Meal just ok but egg fried rice was dreadful. It was brown not white with noju sign of egg! How can a chinese get that wrong I can cook better won't go back

Duck starter was full of fatty skin, King Prawn in black bean sauce was nice, however the egg fried rice was stone cold!

Went downhill a bit when it first opened after lock down, but the last 3 Singapore chow Mein's I've had have been as good as I've had anywhere.👌🍾®©

This is usually our preferred take away of choice however yesterday we seemed to have a problem.My Husband always orders a side of Satay sauce and yesterday he said it had no taste of peanuts but more similar to curry sauce, he thought they just sent the wrong sauce so he used it anyway.I didn't have the sauce but we ate the same food unfortunately my Husband had food poisoning throughout the night and still this morning but I am fine.It makes me wonder was it the correct sauce but gone off.

Unfortunately this place has changed hands so my review is not longer relevant. No more gluten free here.Excellent for gluten free Chinese food. They can tell you which dishes they can make gluten free. Eaten here many times and never been glutened 😀

Food is always nice and up until today I would have given 5 stars however despite being regular customers refused to let my friend pay by card over the phone because the delivery address was different to the card address when I said that isn't against the law etc he got very difficult and rude about it. Then when I said about making a suggestion of putting the drinks on online ordering he start going on about the card thing again and going on about fraud.

We ordered a large amount of food for two people on Tuesday night about 9:15. The food delivery time quoted was 45 to 60 minutes. We had the food in less than 30 minutes. We were happy with this. The food was hot and fresh. The quality was fantastic. We had ordered Chinese from another place the week before and it was horrendous. Very pleased, will order from this place again. I especially liked the mixed started.

Been ordering from here, for a little while now and always forget to write up a review and comment. At least I think I haven't. It deserves another anyhow. I've tried some of the other places, looking for the perfect Chinese food and I'm happy to say that I've found that place. The China Garden is amazing.Nice Clean and The food has always been consistent in quality, flavour and amount. Granted, we tend to order the same things but to never be disappointed by the same food shows just how great the service is. Meat has never been under-cooked. Vegetables are always slightly crunchy and never soggy. Everything is what they say it is. Mild, hot, spicy. You know what to expect. Orders arrive on time, every time. Occasionally early but never late. No problems ordering online or with payments. Well, I'll still continue to buy from here and have no reason to stop. Keep creating delicious food and I hope you prosper in the New Year!
