Great pub. Not been here since 1989. Still a large public house. Great beers Great food. Excellent prices for the family. Friendly staff. Should be more pubs like this. Excellent

Here to eat prior to a football game. Lots of away fans but atmosphere OK and non threatening. Bit of a wait for food as very busy but staff friendly and polite under considerable pressure. Food was very nice. Became very noisy as more fans arrived.

Very nice and welcoming establishment. Went to the Portsmouth v Wigan game, welcomes away fans... Only downfall is the fact that plastics are in use but that's only a safety issue. Brilliant work and the team are amazing and friendly there. Hope to return again

Warm, welcoming staff. Our food arrive very quickly, piping hot and delicious. I haven't been in for a while due to a move away but I certainly wasn't disappointed. The steak pie and gravy were just as good as I remember them. My daughter and Grandson were equally impresed with their food. First class food, service and atmosphere. We'll be back again

Had a meal in The Good Companion whilst on holiday. The welcome we received when we entered was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. To top it off the food was fantastic, clean plates all round. Thank you everyone for a great time. Will call in again when we are down your way.

Nice pint & food. Just missing the lunchtime games on TV. However, nice pub overall 👍

A friend of mine recommended that I go for a meal at the Good Companion as he had eaten there and enjoyed his visit. I am pleased to say that I listened to my friend and took the wife there for a meal, I found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming, the signature Fish and Chips was extremely tasty and I would definitely recommend eating at the Good Companion to my friends as I know that I will come back again for another meal, a big thank you to the staff.

Festive menu was lush. Staff was brilliant would definitely recommend having a meal out here

Not a great experience. The food was okay mostly when it arrived, but 4 of the party of 8 had a long wait. Two of them were children. Drinks took forever to arrive and twice we had to chase them up.The dessert had its own issues. The fudge cake and cream was delicious, but arrived with a dirty spoon. The Eton mess was lovely, but it came without meringue! The crumble was amazing, but it came with a tiny amount of of congealed custard, photo attached.
