Normally this is the place that I would stay when coming to Portsmouth. Unfortunately one bad experience has changed it all. Wallpaper was peeling in my room, the shower wasn’t clean, shower handle fell off, the room smelled moldy. When I told the front desk all they said is that they don’t have another room and the maintenance crew won’t do anything until I check out. Additionally, someone came into my room, went through my bag and stole my second keycard. When my boss reached out to the GM he didn’t seem like he cared. The Hilton Promise wasn’t met on this trip.

The bed was really hard. Being one who has stayed in a ton of hotels. I dont think I have ever had a bed this uncomfortable. The shower was nice but no blow dryer. There was no breakfast offered on Thursday morning nor any coffee in the lobby. The pot was empty. I was left 6 k cups in my room, but only 2 were regular coffee. My room was spacious. Clean. The Chair was Comfortable. Check in & out staff was very friendly and polite. The valet really nice. I forgot to tip them though and didnt realize it until I got home. The friendly toast was recommended, when I did ask about breakfast. It was a quick walk and was delicious. But I was expecting to be able to eat at hotel

Great location and rooms but the service was fairly bad. I had to call the front desk three time for a few extra pillows and a blanket after being assured the first two times everything was taken care of. Spending $800 for 3 nights you would think getting a couple pillows would be fairly simple.

I stayed here with friends for a conference. We selected this hotel due to the hot tub and convenience of the location. To our surprise the hot tub was closed, there was no email or any kind of notice sent out. Once we were in our room for the evening after dinner we found- a used ear plug (not from us), popcorn (also not from us) dirt and dust, and random feathers which we hope are from the pillows. So on top of the hot tub being closed our room use not clean. We expected much more from a Hilton especially for the price. After our stay we checked out early to go to the 2nd day of the conference and we paid for our valet parking at the desk but yet or card was still charged. We also emailed the manager and have yet to receive a response. Not impressed at all

We loved the location because we walked everywhere. Night life was great! We enjoyed talking to the valet about where to go for food and entertainment. The room did get hot during the middle of the night but rooms were clean and safe. Will be coming again!

In the heart of downtown, within walking distance of most places to shop or eat this is a good spot if you don't feel like driving around from your hotel to find parking. Convenient location.

Unsafe conditions during stay. Power outage caused elevators not to function. Not the hotels fault. What was their fault was the complete lack of lighting in the stairwells leaving them totally dark. This with lack of assistance from hotel to help as I carried suitcases down 4 flights of dark stairs was unconscionably. Assistance was also not offered to the three other couples I was traveling with. All elderly. Desk clerks offered no help when they saw me struggling. Don’t expect breakfast because the hotel apparently doesn’t serve on Monday or Tuesday despite signs stating they do serve those days. Hotel couldn’t get my digital key to work saying the lock had to be reprogrammed. This was not done during my stay. I was told the manager would contact me to discuss the issues and room reimbursement however this also didn’t happen and I was charged full rate. Lack of communication and respect for their guests have caused me to reconsider my loyalty to Hilton.

We have always loved this hotel when we stay in Portsmouth. Only one issue which others mentioned: The inability to lower the thermostat below 67. That's quite warm for sleeping even in December. Otherwise, all else was as it has been: excellent customer service, very clean room, great sleep. Due to being Covid cautious, we bought a breakfast to go but the breakfast room was open.

This mornong around 10AM, 1/15/22, I checked out of the Hilton garden Inn in Portsmouth New Hampshire and have never been more insulted or disrespected by hotel staff in my entire life up to this point. Upon checking out, the bald front desk employee (cashier id: APAEZ4) was extremely rude to 2 female guests in our party. The Employee did not check with the guests on which card should be used to bill the room, and instead of helping, he enthusiastically and condescendingy rolled his eyes and took a request to check the card on file as being a huge inconvenience. His curt attitude and belittling demeanor on top of general rudeness is unlike anything I've experienced from any hotel staff before, let alone a Hilton garden inn. I'm sure not all staff is like this, but this individual is not a person you want representing your business upon check-in or check-out. Other guests also seemed displeased with this person during their check-in process, so perhaps a hotel manager should do something about this person or their behavioral problems. Situations like this will make me think twice about staying with Hilton garden in the future.
