Very unhelpful reception and room smelt faintly of stale cigarette smoke. Advertises they will support later check out and the booking was accepted with a request for a one hour later check out, but then refused on check in unless paying an extortionate fee. No attempt at good customer service. Novotel around the corner accomodate no problem

Hotel very close to Reading station. Breakfast spread was decent. Bakery items were very fresh. Staff at breakfast counter were courteous unlike the receptionist who wasn't helpful.

For what it is (‘good value’ hotel), this is excellent. Central, rooms are modern, breakfast is good. A bit of noise but that’s expected in central Reading.

Spent a night at this modern boutique hotel before setting off on holiday. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Room 107 very clean and modern, it was a disabled room and the bathroom was very well thought out for use with a wheelchair.A very good breakfast - selection of pastries, juices, cereals & fruit, also a very nice selection of cooked foods too.A good security idea in use was that the lift could only be operated by the use of room card key.We have booked to stay here again for one night on our return from holiday.Very handy for shopping/bars & restaurants in Reading. Just across road from railway, bus station & taxi rank.Would recommend.

Wonderful room, food and service. Only downside was the noisy bars playing loud music in the early hours and the lack of a hand rail on the stairs down to the bathroom.

It was a lovely evening, even though there was a couple of issues. Firstly, I couldn't add my cocktails at the bar onto my birthday dinner in the restaurant... This was frustrating as they said I couldn't leave the bar without paying! It was my birthday... I wasn't paying...So I had to wait for my partner to arrive and settle up the bar bill... How awkward... Then strangely, all the soft drinks my son ordered at the table, came from the bar?! So the services are joined up surely?Secondly, there the restaurant was not busy, yet we had to wait over an hour for our food, with only a small bread basket to nibble on but they kept topping up our drinks. In the end I had to say to the waiter, please can we have our food now... Ridiculous. However, the food when it finally came was delicious and we did overall have a lovely night. It was all just a bit slow and clunky.

Room was incredible very spacious close to town very nicely decorated and clean.. My only issue is parking and try to drop suitcases off is a bit of a nightmare double red lines out front no stopping and bus lanes.

Stayed the past weekend, the suite was underwhelming, I came in right on time for check in & asked if I could be out in another suite but the (rude) receptionist said the suites were all full but when I left to grab food, I saw a couple just arriving to one of the suites. When I called reception from the room to ask for help with the tv (screen mirroring wasn’t working) there was no answer several times but as soon as I called from my cellphone she had answered within 1 ring.Personally I love the vibe malmasion has, so I’ll definitely still be visiting one every 2 months but just not this one.The (I’m guessing) manager was pretty calm, just what a hotel of this manner requires.Absolutely adore the breakfast staff

The room and the reception staff are great but the bar manger is not a nice person. I went in to the bar for a drink before heading to bad as I had a long day at work ! I’ve been told by this person that they only serve residents customers wish fine I’ve told them I am staying in so he had to double check the name the room as told me he can only charge drink to the room wish is fine until I saw a number of people that just walked in and both drinks and payed at the bar ! Then I realised I wasn’t dressed to this gentleman taste ( a primark shirt ) . I was so embarrassed and discriminated against just based and the way I looked wish is sad to see.

I’m not sure where to start this review to be honest. I think it’s very sub par, not sure what all the hype is all about. Overpriced just for the brand name. I have heard how nice this place is so thought I would give it ago. I stayed for one night with my mother as we were visiting Nirvana Spa the next day. The rooms are okay, nothing special, ridiculously dark tho! We both struggled to apply makeup in the evening as the room only has two spotlights! Should have popped down to reception to ask for a torch😂 We booked a table at 9pm in the restaurant. This was probably the most disappointing part of our stay. Cocktails and starters were super, we both ordered steak for our mains with peppercorn sauce. Now I’m not sure if I was the sauce or the steak but something tasted very very bitter. Not enjoyable at all, neither of us finished that. To be honest I’ve had much nicer steak at the Harvester. We had sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that was lovely. Overall for dinner we were very disappointed, especially after hearing such good things. Service was amazing and very attentive tho, just a shame about the quality of the food. Breakfast was not much better, I had the eggs Benedict which was nice but unfortunately my mother ordered the full English with fried egg, but she got pouched eggs and it was missing the potato crocketts so essentially all she ate was the sausage. Only other negative was the horrible smell coming from the shower drain, I think they must have a plumbing issue. Overall… probably wouldn't stay again, you can have a similar room in a Hilton but with proper lighting and half the price.
