Mr Cod Ltd in Reading

Put one bit of chicken in our chips very unhygienic the tables were dirty DO NOT GO HERE

This is my local takeaway, love the chips, just going past the takeaway you can't not stop and get food!! I tend to go for the masala fish meal, chicken dipper meal, chicken burger meal or the 2 mini chicken burger meal. In the past the takeaway would provide salad with the meal but thats stopped. Also the complimentary drink etc especially after spending 60+ and being a regular. The previous owner would do this. I would of given 3 stars but as its my local takeaway and I know the food is good, portions hit and miss depending on who is serving but other than that food is great!!!

Disgusting. Became sick shortly after eating from this place. Told the manager but he didn't care. Lucky for him that I was not in a bad mood that day😎 NOT RECOMMENDED!

Not only the prices gone up but food quality definitely has got worse. The size of the chicken has shrunk it makes you wonder if it has been put on a diet. The food doesn't feel fresh definitely the chicken it looks like it been cooked and sitting in warmer for sometime looked wrinkled up and color was definitely not what I've seen in past. Called up to inform in middle of call staff put phone down fantastic customer service called up again immediately after nearly giving up 20 rings later staff answers call same person asked why they put phone down said they were busy no apology or anything looks clear profit before customer satisfaction eventually he said bring back the chicken refund money night was ruined was looking forward to takeaway. Absolutely Rubbish experience they just don't care it was clear when food was returned he opened it and look on his face I think even he agreed was not fit to serve customer s. Check your food before paying and departing lesson has been learned I will not be going there's ever again

Use to be good Not sure what happened to my last experience. Food was packaged wrong and the quality wasn't that great.

Great flavour. Best fish and chips in reading. No bad oil flavour. Great portion size. Friendly staff. Great choice of sauces.

Definitely one of the best mr cods in Reading and generally good food but the staff can be a little grumpy

Mr Cod has been a go-to for me for years because of the generous portion sizes, (especially when you upgrade to a larger size), simple approach and good quality fish and chips.I recently went to another place in Reading which had won awards for its fish and chips, and had glowing reviews. It was rubbish - they tricked ne on portion sizes by just putting the same chips in a bigger box, the chips were worse than Mr Cod's, and they seemed to have a pretentious air about them. It's as if when you get good reviews and pretend to be much more important than you are, that is a good substitute for quality. I find it baffling if I'm honest.Mr Cod doesn't pretend to be anything other than a simple fish and chip shop and it does it very well. I won't be changing any time soon!

I have used Mr Cod for years from two of their shops. I just love their fish and chips and their fried chicken. Always cooked freshly as are their chips which are NOT frozen chips but prepared on site. Their staff are always pleasant. Mr Cod is a real joy to use. Well done.

Great food, had the Mega chicken burger meal and it was amazing, did have to wait for 15 mins but it cooked fresh and full of flavor, chip shop chips were on point too, friendly staff who actually do try very hard to please customers despite the reviews people have left, would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get value for money and good food.
