Tasty Plaice in Reading

I always like the food from here and good service , however the prices recently have gone through the roof! Just went on to deliveroo to order but changed my mind after I realized how expensive it is now. Such a shame but I cannot justify paying £3 for a pot of curry sauce!! :0(

Good fish and chips but terrible customer service. We went after 9 pm because their Google business hours says they close until 10 pm only to find them closed slightly after 9 pm. We were very kind to tell them that their Google info was wrong and they said they didn’t do so. I told them that still they could change the opening hours on the page themselves so people didn’t come all the way to find their place closed and they repeated the same. In other words, they don’t care. Another customer arrived while I was there and they had to tell them the same. What a shame.

I have had the worst experience ever! While we were waiting for our order two of your workers were talking about me and my wife, they kept looking at us and laughing . They even went as far as going to speak about us to the kitchen staff. Then the kitchen staff looked straight at us and started laughing. When the gave us the good the one girl said thank you very sarcasticly. I took the food and when we walked out she rolled her eyes and said bye again very sarcasticly. Then both the girls started laughing again. The food was disgusting, the fish was watery and we asked for salt and vinegar on the chips which we didn't get. We will never be going back there! Terrible customer service! If I could put zero stars I would!

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of my meal. Best fish and chips Lovely lady at the front is very friendly and polite. Quick service

Decent chippy. Fish & chips are good, not too oily but cooked well, only issue is the size of the cod. They seem small for £5.

Edited.....the fact u answered shows u care and are prepared to listen, I didn't write the review for a freebie just to let u know what customers experienced. I come back and try again and amend the review accordingly......customers are just an inconvenience to some.new process where only one person puts order together. Ignorant and uncaring customer service is the result. Ordered 1 cod and chips waited close to 45 minutes while countless delivery orders flooded out the door. Stage don't care they are just plain rude take your money and ignore u.

The fish is very tasty and crunchy I love your food it's everything is adorable and staff is served food very happily.

Chips are average and what you’d expect from any chippy. Large cod was small portion. Curry sauce has the consistency of water and was vile. Do not get a kebab from here - it’s the same money as decent kebab shop but tastes like a frozen donor microwave kebab (fake, cheap meat) and tiny. XL was the size of a small. Don’t know what their chilli sauce is like as even though I asked, they failed to put any in. Disappointing first visit and will be the last.

Called in by chance, don't live in Reading but if we did we would be using this place regularly. We had haddock chips and mushy peas and they were excellent, great batter, lovely tasty fish, chips and peas too. Great customer service, five stars!

First time here but will definitely come back.Chips were fantastic and the fish was delicious! Portions were very generous (Large pictured here - I was stuffed!)The only downsides were that the batter was ever so slightly too thick, and a little doughy past the crunchy outer, and maybe more salt and vinegar next time would be perfect.
