The Corn Stores in Reading

Went with my wife on a Saturday evening. Good first impressions: welcoming staff and lovely décor. We came looking for decent steak but were left very disappointed. No fillet or tomahawk which we thought was odd on a Saturday evening so my wife had sirloin and I had ribeye with fries.Fries were a very small portion but delicious. The peppercorn sauce was very watery but the big disappointment was the steaks. They came pre sliced which slightly disorientated me with their appearance when they came to the table. But on closer inspection, without any exaggeration, 1/3 to 1/2 of my rib eye was pure fat. There was a line of at least 1cm horizonal through the middle and 3 of the vertical slices were pure fat. I just wish I took a photo. My wife's medium rare was very tough. The steak should never have been served to another. I have never been served such a poor steak, let along at a place charging decent £ for it - I think £37 - even more than at Gaucho. The waiter agreed looking at the steak and took it back. We declined his offer of a replacement, paid for our drinks and left.

Lisa. This is why you should come here. Best welcome I've had anywhere. The place is lovely, the food is beyond good, I'm fact, it's sensational. All the staff here are wonderful, I'll be back for sure and I highly recommend this place!

Inventive and original versions of brasserie classics, life-affirming cocktails, discreet and amiable staff. Don't be scared to choose from the lower priced end of the wine menu as it's still really good - the prices do go a bit crazy thereafter. Overall a great experience.

The best restaurant in Reading at the moment. We're coming here often to treat ourselves to excellent food, tasty drinks and a relaxed/warm atmosphere. The staff members are very friendly and very attentive making our experience even better.

Absolutely lovely! The staff are so kind and helpful and the food is delicious. I definitely will be recommending this to friends and will be coming back.

Exceptional! My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary here and words can't explain how much we loved it. It was out of this world...we call it the "corn stores effect". The staff were lovely from the moment we stepped through the door to the moment we left. I can't fault a single thing. The staff had all signed a card wishing us a happy anniversary which was a lovely touch. Everything we are and drank was delicious. We have told so many people at this point that we will be definitely be back! Thank you all! 💜

Without doubt, one of the best meals of my life. Had an 8 course tasting menu; each course was a perfectly assembled taste of genius. Seriously incredible flavours. It was elevated further by the welcoming and knowledgeable staff, with our waiter Greg caring for us as though we were family!10 out of 10

Wow! What a gem of a restaurant! Just had the most unexpected exquisite meal I've ever had anywhere outside of a Michelin star! Service above and beyond. Delicious flavours and top of the range ingredients, we were totally blown away tonight...will definitely be returning! Well done Corn Stores😊👍🏻

Anyways had a lovely time here. Very polite and observant staff and excellent food.Currently (December 2020) we are in tier 2 and they offer fine dining. What an experience! Every dish was superb and a work of art. One of the best restaurants in Reading for sure!

Went here after reading the reviews and I must say we were not disappointed. Right from entering the restaurant, we were greeted really well and they even made space to store the 2 prams that we had. The lady that looked after us was really pleasant and courteous and ensured that we had a great experience. The food is simply amazing and I would definitely recommend going for the steak as your mains. It was cooked as per our specification and our entire group of 6 were very happy with the food. It's slightly on the expensive side but would definitely recommend for a special occasion. And great ambience too!
