Sunday carvery. Management and staff made us most welcome and service was excellent. Food was both plentiful and delicious. Superb salad buffet starter plus soup. The carvery had a good choice of meats and wide selection of vegetables all of which was first class. Good desert menu and with coffee to finish, it was a most enjoyable experience.

We had a company team day there. It's a nice place. A bit dated decor but still nice. No problems with parking. About 16 min walk from train station.

Great Mother's Day roast lunch. Amazing buffet for starters and lots of delicious desserts to choose from. Friendly staff and so worth a visit.

Went to the carvery and was so disappointed. They seemed to have smothered everything (particularly the gravy) in fennel seeds. The flavour was so over powering I couldn't eat any of it. I thought I'd have nice, simple, strawberry ice cream for dessert (after all, you can't ruin ice cream. Can you?). They had obviously dished up the ice cream some hours (or possibly days) before and put the bowl, with the ice cream in it, into the freezer. It had developed a sort of chewy outer 'skin'. It was revolting. I left it, as it was so horrible. After 20 minutes, it hadn't melted but remainded in it's scooped shape, supported by this horrible skin like stuff!! Honestly, it's right up there with one of the worst meals I've ever had. I did draw this to the attention of staff at the time. They were very polite but informed me that nobody else had complained. I didn't want to make too much of a fuss as I was with my elderly mother and she would have been mortified! I shall not be returning!!

A bit of a mixed bag for the Sunday lunch carvery. On the plus side the tables were well laid out with plenty of room. The starters were plentiful with a nice selection. The carvery was very tasty and the puddings were lovely. And the price was very reasonable for 3 courses. On the negative side the waiting was a bit of a shambles. Once you get shown to your table you're very much on your own. No explanation that you had to go back to the bar for your drinks or that the sweets are listed on a separate menu that the waiter may or may not bring to your table. We even saw one waiter tell another off as he was taking the order from the other ones table. All the time we were waiting for anyone to come and pick up our dirty plates. So if you can ignore the fawltey towers staff the venue, the food and price were very good.

Booked last minute to stay on the way back from weekend visiting family. Staff were lovely, especially the bar manager. Rooms are basic and quite dated, but cheap, clean and comfortable. Was perfect for what we needed.

If you would like a lovely afternoon tea with hot tea, hot coffee, finger sandwiches and delicious cakes......don't visit here...cold tea and coffee, finger sandwiches like thumbs......with nearly cut off crusts and tasteless cakes. . The scones weren't too bad!!!

We had a lovely meal on Christmas day with our family. The food was delicious & the service very efficient, we also had Christmas Dinner there in 2019, which was also great! Will definately do it again.

Main carvery beef (extraordinary) gammon and turkey with a choice of veg and potatoes. Good choice of dessert. Wonderful ambience. Will definitely return
