This beautifully, newly refurbished pub let itself down badly with the service and food on the day that I visited. So many things went wrong...too many to list! Our complaints were met with understanding and support from the staff, and dealt with adequately. Given that this place came highly recommended by a trusted friend, I have every confidence that this was just a one off and will visit again. I can't recommend on my first experience, but hope my second will be a different story!

Went with 10 family members, ranging from 4 to 70 years old.Place selected because of outdoor play area for children. Seen quickly for food order and drinks. Waited half an hour for starters to arrive. Then another half hour plus for main courses. Then 3 of mains were wrong, another delay. Complained to server and she said that there was a shortage of kitchen staff. Complained to front of house, not much response. No offer of compensation. 2 other customers close by arrived at same time, just gave up and walked out because the service was so bad! Nice pub, good food, but limited menu. Shame about the service. Will not be going back for while.

To begin, the starters were lovely. My table were impressed by how much range and how tasty there was. There was no complaints there. The drinks were quick and the glasses for draught were refrigerated, which is always a bonus! However; mains were incredibly disappointing. We ordered 5 steaks (different cuts) and not a single one was cooked to what we asked for. They were all overcooked and was like chewing rubber. The peppercorn didn't do much to help the flavour. The fact that most of us asked for medium rare, and they all came out as well done was shocking. Some of the steaks went up to around £26 as well!We only sent 1 back as a lot of us were hungry and didn't have time to wait for 6 new dishes to be made. The place was practically empty so the especially long wait times for food to be served didn't make sense with the quality that was produced. The burger that was ordered, the brochie bun was burnt and the meat was overcooked. The person who ordered it left most of it on his plate as it wasn't enjoyable at all.I will give credit to our server who rectified one of our steaks and took a round of drinks off our bills. The steak that was recooked had no complaints, and was cooked to the expected standard and was enjoyable. But it's a shame that the chef was able to cook the dish but didn't put the time, care, or effort to get it right the first time round for everyone. The waitress did explain the kitchen was overwhelmed with our order (7 people, starters and mains) and they were understaffed, but we waited a long time between when the starters and mains were served. I would have understood the long wait times to ensure our food was up to par, but to have long wait times for food, joint with it being poorly cooked, was unacceptable. As someone who's recently left hospitality, I can fully appreciate the pressure and stress the industry is under but I can't accept the rushed, and complete lack of professionalism in the foodIt's such a shame as it's a beautiful pub with a large outdoor garden area, and the purpose of our visit was to celebrate a birthday, so the experience unfortunately left a poor aftertaste in our mouths

We had a lovely time in this pub—a beautiful place with indoor and outdoor seating areas and our dog was welcomed. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the toilets were clean. The food was delicious: my husband, daughter and I were very impressed! Thank you!

The venue was very impressive, and extremely smart. The staff were lovely and very friendly. The food was very average to be honest. Not really anything worth complaining about just extremely small portions. We had the beef burger and the fish OK maybe if you fancied a snack but not if you wanted to feel full.

Lovely pub inside and out, been recently revamped and been very well done, looks like a great selection of food a drinks. We only tried the cheeseboard as just stopped for a drink.. however £9.00 for 4 or 5 small bits of cheese and 7 or 8 crackers seems a bit steep.Friendly helpful staff.

Not a great place, the server was very nice, the meal not so much. The scampi was very bland, more like a school dinner meal. Very small portions for the price. We were seated at the back of the pub restaurant next to an elderly couple, then a school trip was seated next to us! The whole pub was empty apart from us. The couple next to us got up and left, and the door next to us was pinned open with children running in and out. Why would you seat everyone so close? Especially during COVID times.Overall not a great experience.

Incredible food. Took a while to arrive, luckily we weren't in a hurry. Well worth the wait though.

Monday 24th may. The blue ball opened its doors once again. My wife and I enjoyed a superb lunch; the food was excellent in every way. The quality and taste was absolutely spot- on and the portions generous. The staff at this venue are friendly and professional. Very welcoming and giving a great service. The Blue Ball pub restaurant offers a delightful space, both indoors and out doors. We are looking forward to the warmer days when we my, once more sit outside again and enjoy a drink and more of the delicious food on offer. Great place in a great location
