Lovely old pub, with rooms. Changed a bit since the 1950s, but not too much. Good local ale and plenty of seating inside and out. Friendly staff and looks like a good menu.

Nice rooms in a very historic pub, with very uneven floors and rickety staircases. A good shower in one bathroom, not enough headroom for a shower in the other. we asked for a second bed to be made up in the big bedroom and they said they would not do this. When we arrived we found there was a sofa bed in the room but no bedding for it and my daughter had to make do with a blanket and a throw. It would have been so easy for the staff to have made the bed up. The breakfast was too expensive.

Terrible meal here, very poor choice and no mains under £17. They had a Platinum jubilee weekend menu so little choice. The meals were very disappointing, I had to complain when the pate came out without the salad or the chutney. The serviettes looked like grey, well used dishcloths.I will never have a family meal here again. I now know why we were the only ones eating in the pub.Very disappointed. They did give us 20% off the bill as I complained but come on Chequers , this was Jubilee celebrations weekend and you let yourselves down big time.

Service was great, I would of given 5 stars but potatoes where very dry. Apart from that food was good.

Quirky pub with good food and great staff. Best restaurant breakfast we have ever had!

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again! The rooms to vary greatly and the larger room is much nicer than the standard. The shower in the small rooms is quite small but adequate. You get tea and coffee with a small fan.I don't think you can open the double window in the small room and in summer this could be an issue!Breakfast was really good and reasonable cost.Staff are very helpful and great!

Just for a birthday drink this time. Have eaten here before and really enjoyed it. This time was a quiet night and a couple of locals drunk and loud at the bar but the barmaid did try and calm them down. Usually a warm welcome and a good vibe.

Very cute pub with nicely appointed room. I accidentally left my kindle behind and the staff posted it to me - great service!

+1 Nicely decorated, plus good Xmas vibe+1 friendly helpful staff.-1 the veggie main was not available.-2 The filo parcels were GREAT... but for a main and the price I definitely expect more than two. I ended up buying a bowl of chips half way through the meal as was still so hungy. Poor show...+1 Chips are nice!+1 A good pint of Gunness

One night stay following a local funeral.Fantastic staff both the young man last night for the evening and a lady for breakfast this morning.Beautiful old building, rooms nicely decorated, filter coffee and tea in the rooms with option of fresh milk if required.En suite ok, all in all value for money.Evening meal was very good, we had the venison. Bottle of wine (2) was expensive however didn't check the wine prices first.Excellent breakfast, can't fault it.Would stay again if in battle
