The Chequers Inn in Rother

First Time visit for a birthday treat for 5 of us. Normal pub atmosphere, bizzy restaurant area, order at bar. Great level of service. Starters arrived in a timely Manor and did not disapoint. We had 2 combo share platters and it was beautiful, good mixture of items with 3 wonderful dips. Homemade pie was lovely and full of meat and potatoes with mushy peas and chips with a beautiful gravy boat. We didn't have puddings so carnt comment this time. We stayed for a few drinks after in the bar area as it quitened down a bit and enjoyed the background music. Overall a good first visit and was not disappointed at all and to say we all live only 1 mile away have never been here but it is now on our list of eateries to visit.

Very efficient and friendly staff. Although very busy and we were a party of eight did not have to wait long for our food. Highly recommend The Chequers for Sunday Lunch.

This is just how a Sunday lunch should be. Welcoming and friendly staff beautiful food the beef was melt in the mouth. I couldn't fault it at all. I am happy to highly recommend.

First time in years visiting the Chequers Inn, so many good reviews I thought it would be nice to have a meal there for my birthday with family, we were not disappointed the food was amazing and so nice to have home cooked food and not the usual company catering as so many other pubs have nowadays. We were all well satisfied and will certainly be going again. Thank you to all the staff and a good night had by all.

Really lovely time, new menu today so service a little mixed, staff adapting to changes but well done. Management always on hand to help customers and staff si well done.

Fantastic staff, had a leaving do for 16 great, sorted menu before we arrived all food was fantastic and on time lovely venue and prices very affordable, will certainly return. Thank you 😊

Good service. Portions much too large for lunchtime meal. . Don't know what's happened to Jacket potatoes and sandwiches on the new menu.

Traditional old pub that has become known for excellent food with good but sensible portions. You wont leave hungry.Recommend booking for food. Dont expect modern or posh but worth a visit for the food

A late lunch 3:30pm today, have a delicious and good generous portion of ox tail & mesh potato meal. if you enjoy ox tails, you should try this dish when it is still on a special menu
