My husband and I had the most wonderful couple of nights stay at The Gallivant to celebrate his 45th birthday. Excellent food and fantastic service, it was the perfect place for a special birthday treat. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay with fabulous food and stunning surroundings, I cannot recommend The Gallivant highly enough.

Had a lovely dinner here while staying at a nearby Airbnb. The food was incredible and the interiors were stunning. A famous Hollywood actor filming in the uk and his family sat next to us adding to the atmosphere. Will return and stay here for sure.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing location. Loved being just 5 minutes from the sea. The room was lovely and loved having a ‘snug’. Really enjoyed the English wine at 5 each day. Food at breakfast and dinner was divine. We were there 6 days and enjoyed every single thing on the menu. The staff were super friendly and the wine tasting was a highlight.

Incredible small plates lunch served in beautiful interior. Dog friendly and the beach just across the road for them run about on. Try the sour dough smoked mackerel cheese toastie. Food that shows someone cared about what they were cooking. Would go back just for that.

Great welcoming service and felt very looked after. Great shower and comfortable bed. However, I did resent paying £30 for a lamb chop with no vegetables (£6 a bowl extra).Delicious breakfast and had gluten free so we were really happy there. Will stay there again soon, but would dine out in the evenings!

Really nice hotel just outside Rye in East Sussex. Sitting behind one of the best stretches of sandunes and beautiful beach on the whole south coast. Really cosy rooms, we had a snug and it was very relaxing. Food is amazing and all locally sourced. Bar is well stocked and the bar staff are very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They hold yoga classes daily and they have a therapy suite in the garden. Don't let camber sands itself put you off, it's a bit run down. The hotel is amazing and Rye is a 5 minute trip away.

Had the most wonderful stay at The Gallivant. The hotel itself is amazing; it smells so good and so close to the beach! The food is awesome with a great menu, the chef was very kind to accommodate my dietary requirements too. The staff were also great, special shout out to Nikita and the lovely Italian waitress at the Breakfast service.

Nice decor and friendly staff. The rooms were small though considering the price and the ‘private’ terrace on the room were not private, you looked out to a small garden over looked by a housing estate. It didn’t have the luxury quality needed to warrant the price. I wouldn’t go back. The facial was lovely, albeit in a shed in the garden.Camber is nice in the autumn/winter without the tourists and Rye is lovely only short drive away.

Checked in today. Room garden suite, well appointed what you’d expect from a 5 star hotel, nonetheless very comfortable. Small garden space at rear which catches the mid afternoon sun - great for chilling out, reading, a glass of something. Dinner was of a very high standard. Service attentive but not overwhelming. The food was delicious; cod roe muse bouche, mackerel starter accompanied by a tasty sauce, a succulent tender moist pork chop with roasted cold carrots and roasted spuds both with with extra tasty accompaniments. Too full for desert. Only have another 4 nights of this - menu changes daily. Watch this space!

Just back from a lovely weekend break at The Gallivant. The decor and cleanliness of the room and hotel common areas were all delightful. We loved the comfy bed, big TV, and the selection of games in the lounge area. This is also the first time I've found a hair dryer diffuser in the room, which is much appreciated by a curly girl! There are lots of little touches that make your stay feel extra special (wellies for walks, yoga classes, English wine at 5) and everything we encountered from furnishings, to linens, to toiletries were all of the highest quality. The half board system works well and while the menu is currently limited we never left a meal feeling disappointed or hungry. The restaurant service is relaxed rather than of a fine dining standard, but the food itself was very high quality and delicious. The proximity to the beach is unbeatable and you also end up on a bit quieter part of the beach away from the main car parks. The current prices are very high, and I definitely would not pay anywhere close to the current rates if we were not in this exceptional situation. That being said, I am happy to have had the experience we did, and it provided a much needed break without the hassle or stress of travelling abroad.
