We had a lovely meal here good size portions and excellent quality. The two female staff were very friendly and made sure we were happy with both courses. We will definitely come back later in our stay in the area.

Popped in here after a morning at the beach for a spot of lunch. Very friendly greeting from who I presumed was the owner. Sat at our table of choice and drinks order was taken whilst we perused the menu. Chose halloumi fries and fish and chips, both were glorious. I had a pint of his locally brewed own ale and that too was very good. Great service, nice and clean and great food and drink. What more could you ask. Looking forward to booking Sunday lunch. Thoroughly recommended.

Just spent 4 nights here. One of the best short breaks I have ever had.Theo is a great host and all the staff are very friendly and efficient. If you go, you must try the fish and chips, excellent.

Theo was super welcoming and polite, also used my name which was attention to detail. Lovely property with a few rooms to book so was personal and quiet.Room was spacious and clean. Shower room again spacious and clean with supply of nice toiletries. Loving the old furniture in the room in keeping with the property style.Breakfast was well cooked and fulfilling, even for a vegetarian! Dinner menu looked good although we didn't have an opportunity to try it. All in all a lovely stay and would happily return again.

Superb Sunday lunch.Best to book a table. Tender roast beef with perfectly cooked vegetables, followed by a chocolate orange cheesecake. Finished with a glass of chilled crisp chardonnay. Polite, cheerful knowledgeable staff. lovely atmosphere, nice clean pub but car park is on the small side.

We booked for dinner here on the first Saturday in May and had the best pub meal in a very long time. We had the beef pie and the fish and chips and both were absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and helpful from the minute we walked in, both from the Dutch manager and the ladies who served us. We would highly recommend this pub for anyone visiting Rye.

A wonderful experience!! We arrive for a Sunday roast, followed by one night’s stay. Next time it will be longer!!Upon arrival we were welcomed wholeheartedly by the owner, and started our stay with a late lunch. The starters were beautifully present, and flavours well balanced, roasts were generously portioned, with high quality ingredients and perfectly cooked veg!! Desserts were equally delicious, topped off with a glass of dessert wine and a delicious platter of local cheeses. Despite it getting later at this point, I was particularly impressed that that kitchen remained open until every last person had been served their final course. Nothing was too much trouble, the service was thorough, attentive, but not intrusive. The room was large, well appointed, and spotlessly clean. A soak in the freestanding bath was a particular highlight! We slept extremely comfortably, and the following morning enjoyed a generous breakfast, again with absolutely nothing being too much trouble!!The whole trip was made even more enjoyable by the fact that the whole business is genuinely dog friendly. We have 2 well mannered Cavaliers, and they were made to feel very at home by both staff and locals! If you enjoy great food and even better hospitality, I recommend this wonderful pub wholeheartedly!!If we didn’t have other plans, we absolutely would have stayed for another night there and then!!

We had a 2 night stay, what a lovely warm welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. This continued until we checked out. The room and bed was very comfortable. Everything had been thought about, even a long lead on the hairdryer, so it reached from the plug to the mirror. The food and service was faultless, will be making a return visit. Thank to Theo and his team for a great time. Debbie and Nick

We stopped off by chance and couldn’t believe our luck. The Dutch owner runs this with his son. Lovely chap. The beer is local and well kept. The food… well, the food is exceptional. I had the chicken and leek pie, Kate had mussels (Thai) and Will, our 10 year old, had a pizza. The pizza base was light and crispy, the topping truly delicious - we all tried one another’s food! We shared a very (very) good chocolate brownie for pud. Real fire, parking, could see a good pub garden out the back (but too cold for us in Feb!). Just great. Highly recommended.

We ended up here by pure chance and have had the most wonderful experience. Absolutely first class food and the Dutch host is friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. Local produce beautifully crafted into deliciousness! We will be back.
