A beautiful wetherspoons. Art deco interior. Beautiful colours. The kitchen is on show no hiding from customers. Lovely open doors. Fantastic. Disabled toilet let it down. Smelly and unclean. Lost a star for this reason.

Great food, great service, lovely hot chocolate all set in a wonderful picture house setting. The hidden gem also offers a roof garden which is simply tranquil in the evenings - well worth a visit.

Easily one of the best Wetherspoons I've been to, amazing building inside and out, staff are friendly and helpful, and the roof garden is amazing!Food and drink were delivered pretty damn quick also, couldn't recommend enough!

We went in today as a group of 4. I could not rate this pub and their staff any higher. We had the pleasure of Poppy who could not do anymore - she even took our disabled relative to show her where the disabled toilets were. Anything we asked she was happy to help. The manager on shift between 11.30-12.30 while we were there again was amazing. I felt he worked as hard as everyone else and it seemed that everyone was a equal - a really great atmosphere, nice hot food and great staff - 10/10

Great friendly pub. Layout and decor is sympathetic to its origins. Staff and locals all friendly. Food and drink very good value - plus order from your table using the app. What's not to like?

I eat here now than then with my family, its reasonably priced, easy to order, and the food comes out quiet quickly.Service is great, food is nice. Can't complain, the place is very cosy and relaxing to be in.

Good variety of food and excellent value. The only problem I found was that it was a bit drafty and the food chilled quite quickly... If the seats had been the other way around the problem wouldn't have been so bad.Lovely roof terrace to dine from for when it's sunny.Excellent service from the staff 😊

Lovely setting in historical opera. Enjoyed my breakfast and coffee. Lovely upstairs roof garden with lift, so accessible. Clean and smart toilets. I came back and had lunch. The only downside is the noise from kitchen bells if sitting in the area near the kitchen.

Stopped by for a coffee but will be back, next time, to eat. It's a really charismatic, interesting venue, the features of the old Playhouse are present throughout and the outside seating is a really pleasant place to be.

Picture Playhouse, Western Road, BexhillI love this place......I've only visited a few but this is hands down the best Wetherspoons I've been in. The pub chain have restored this beautiful old building in a sympathetic way....it's full of period features and well matched fixtures and fittings. And it's just a five minute walk away from the lovely seafront. The bar area is striking with a huge array of beverages and is set in a room adjacent to the very large dining space. Despite its size, this room retains an air of comfort and cosiness with its individual booths, wall panelling, and decorative ceiling and windows. Where areas are not already divided into booths, screens are in place to create a more Covid safe environment, and sanitizing stations are positioned in several places. The stairs to the first floor rise around a passenger lift.....both lead to the bathrooms and out to a wonderful, spacious decked area. The glass and stainless steel safety rails and varied plants create a modern garden atmosphere and for train spotters, one end of the deck looks down over the trains slowly coming in and out of the nearby station. We visited on an early Tuesday evening....steak night.....with some great deals on offer. My companion chose a substantial mixed grill with a variety of different meats, with fries and the usual trimmings, and I had the plant based Beyond Burger in a sourdough bun with fries and a few extras. From sending the food order via the Wetherspoons app to the meals arriving piping hot at our table, took exactly 9 minutes! During that time, both of our drinks.......non alcoholic on this occasion and included in the price of the meal deal....arrived. For a small extra charge, a good selection of alcoholic drinks are available as part of the deal too.We both thoroughly enjoyed the meals which were so filling, we sadly had to decline the offer of dessert. We sat chatting for quite a while after eating , but despite the restaurant becoming busy, we were reassured by the friendly staff that there was no rush for us to move on.I observed vacated areas being cleaned and sanitised before being occupied again and staff were wearing masks throughout. Customers were required to wear masks if leaving their table to use the bathrooms which were spotless and refurbished in a stunning art deco style. Oh, and the final positive to an enjoyable meal out? The total cost of food and drinks on this occasion was just over £19, excluding tip! This was no fine dining experience but well cooked, enjoyable food at an extremely reasonable cost, in great surroundings. I've visited a few times before and will definitely go back again in the near future
