We recently stayed at The White Dog with friends for my husbands 70th birthday. Our rooms were comfortable with everything you could need provided..The location is stunning. Lovely little village and an easy walk over the countryside to Bodiam Caste. We had dinner in the evening in the pub restaurant. Food was delicious.I think the one thing that really stood out were the staff. From my initial enquiry by email to checkout we were treated with to best service. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and very helpful and efficient. Always a ready smile too which can be a rare thing these days.So thank you all for making my husbands ''Big Birthday'' so special.

What a find! We were advised to go here and boy, were we glad we did. We had a really great diner, for me the steak with fries and salad and for my wife lamb with lovely vegetables. Absolutely delicious ! After we had a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Best after ever!Combine the great food with a warm and friendly ambiance and, let’s not forget, a lovely staff, it was a really terrific evening. If ever in the area, please visit ;-)!

Wanted to thank the staff for making my husbands surprise birthday lunch really special. The candle that came with his pudding was brilliant. We use to visit this pub in the late 1960s and the welcome is still as good. Will definitely visit again soon.

Called for lunch today. This place is awesome, sat in the beautiful rear garden scoffing some awesome food and drink. Staff were great and they do a great pint. Definitely be back again.

Consistently excellent food, drinks, and service. This pub became our goto spot for dinner over our week long vacation. The pigeon appetizer, mussels, scallops, seafood pasta and so many more dishes were absolutely delicious.

What a find! We discovered this lovely country pub after visiting Great Dixter. Sitting out in the garden with views down the valley, we both chose a ciabatta filled with delicious rare beef, accompanied by great chips and a nicely dressed salad. Yum! (Just a bit more horseradish please, chef!) Good choices on the menu for a fuller meal, if required.

it was quite good but not great. The king tiger prawns were over cooked to extent you would think (?) they had been finished off in microwave (scalding) and sometime taken to remove shells.Steak was very good and my aunties food reported as good although way too much pasta and not enough contents. Its a super local pub but we will try many others before returning.

Easily the best pub in the area. Excellent service, delicious food and great ambience. We went to celebrate our sons 18th birthday today and it lived up to all expectations, they even remembered it was his birthday and produced pudding with a ‘firework’ candle even though we hadn’t ordered any puddings (because we were all so full from the first two courses). We will definitely return and couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

One of our favourite Sussex pubs, a hidden gem. Delicious locally sourced food, a good wine list and homely surroundings - with very friendly and helpful staff (my partner is gluten and dairy free and they were very accommodating). Cosy in winter and, with the beautiful garden, idyllic in summer. Highly recommended - but book ahead to get a table!
