We are staying nearby so booked in for dinner and were in for an extremely pleasant surprise. The pub, staff and food were first class! Our table of 4 enjoyed haddock gratin, bacon & chicken salad and steak burger & homemade chips followed by the most sublime Apple & BlackBerry crumble and chocolate brownie cake with salted caramel ice cream and chocolate sauce. Staff were friendly and helpful. The decor was interesting and clean. Highly recommend a visit. We've booked to go back on Sunday to try a roast!!

Stayed here for a wedding reception, good food, excellent bar service. The reception was in the garden, which has wooden units in can be heated, the buffet was in one a photo booth in another one.Garden has a play area for children.Small amount of bedrooms all in the main 16th century building.Well worth a visit and a stay.

We weren't made.to feel welcome, asked if we had made a booking, after some fuss we were shown to.a empty restaurant area, had to ask to place our order for drinks and food, had to wait quite a while for our meals. The food was good shame about the service 😕

Stopped here on impulse. Ordered Sunday lunch. OMG best Sunday lunch I've ever had. Loads of fresh veg, beautifully cooked meat and a huge Yorkshire. Plus a huge piece of perfect crackling. Definitely worth a visit, lovey open fire and nice country pub ambience. It also does B&B

Food (and beer!) was good, in garden stables which were really nice on a very hot summers day, though that did mean an occasional nasty smell from the drains but this did not detract from the experience (thankfully!). Outside bar and a good children's play area meant everyone enjoyed the lunch!
