We arrived at the SPICE COTTAGE near foxhills at around 10.45pm after driving 3.5 hours hours from Manchester, reasonably polite people when served. Ordered £36 worth of food. We took the food back to our hotel, on inspection I decided not to eat it purely based on the look and quality of the food. The prawn puri was simply the worst starter of prawn puri I have ever ever seen. The chef should be ashamed, it was literally covered in gee, the prawns were see through and there was literally zero spice, colour or flavour to the dish. My friend had ordered the mix tandoori grill which was £12.95 it came with half shish kebab, chicken and one piece of lamb (a cube) and a naan bread the size of a quarter the size of a brow l size naan bread. My friend did eat as we had a long journey and so reluctantly finished his meal. 6 hours later he is being sick, with the runs, this continues all day and was sick over 15 times. I called the restaurant today at 2pm to advise them of what had happened and they said a manager would call me back. At 8pm no body had called. So I called at 8.30pm and explained all of this. All they said was do you have the food? Well of course we didn’t as it had been eaten, have you got a doctors note? Why would we one day after? No form of how is he? Is he ok? I don’t often write such reviews but I warn you do not bother with this place. The food is nothing short of dreadful and the way they responded to this information was nothing short of Ignorant and frankly appalling. I have taken the tome to post this as I have had to see my friend be so ill all day and if nothing else wanted to ensure they knew they may have a problem but the response was just shocking. Environment health will be contacted tomorrow so they can inspect and look into it. Please don’t be tempted to use this place.

They lay out dips on your table like its a free addition to you neal but then charge for each individual dip. Their cost per poppadum is quite high which is a growing trend and the service was very slow especialy when its not busy. The food is quite nice but the portion size is small so there is a chance you might not be full up unless you load up on sides and sundries which can be costly.

Have been visiting the Spicey Otter for years including witb sime friends from Pakistan. The food is consistently very good, reasonably pruces and the staff wonderful. This is the best around for miles for many many miles.

So disappointed, the worst meal I've ever had, a Keema Nan with no keema in it.The korma was just a runny liquid (certainly not a korma - it had no taste to it at all, very little meat for the price they charge. Asked for raita on the side and it tasted like it was made using mint sauce from the supermarket I could even taste the vinegar in it, that's most probably how it was green, I've never seen a green raita - yogurt is usually white ????? The lamb Rogan was just lamb ???? With some onion and tomato (again no taste) plus it was swimming in oil - yuck. Paratha was heavy/stodgy and under cooked.

This was actually where I had my first curry over 15 years ago and I had something called a 'haski pancake'. Ive spent years trying to find out what that dish was and where I had it and to my amazement, when I moved to West Byfleet last May, I rediscovered this place. The food is excellent and.. They still do the haski pancake! It's a weird and unusual dish but sooooo good that I've been dreaming of it for 15 years. This place is ace.
