Had a pleasant 1 night stay, all the staff were polite and professional, the lunch we had was good and plentiful as was the breakfast. The room(9) excellent size as is the bathroom and all well maintained. Thank you for a lovely time (will return).

Great place to eat, drink and stay.. I've eaten here on many occasions. It overlooks Virginia waters where you can go walking yr dog or walk/jog alone, cycling and there is a cafe in front of the lake. The area is lots of acres of land with a lovely lake, totem pole and also near the guards polo club. Great for families. Enjoy.

We arrived in at 3pm. 1st thing we noticed was the lack of attentive welcoming professional customer service! We were told to book a table for food and it takes half an hour. We asked if we could stay at the bar waiting for a table, the guy said no which was fine. We had a walk inside the Virginia Water Countryside Park nearby. We came back on time and sat. We ordered our drink but we waited too long to get our food. After an hour and 10 minutes I said to the waiter who were clearing up our next table that we are really hungry and we can't wait longer than that. I saw a sign at the bar, saying: A welcome from Paul and the team. We would say back: " Please get your staffs fully trained in customer service and acknowledging guests from their arrival that how the whole service is taking a place" After sitting 45 minutes, one of the staff approached our table and asked to pay for food! The other staff came to us with the receipt of our payment at 4:15 which means the order was sent to kitchen. We wouldn't go back to that pub again, although the food was well presented, delicious and hot.

Went today for a birthday lunch, it was really busy but we still had great service and a lovely meal. Our waitress Illa was so friendly and checked on us regularly to see if we wanted anything. We will look forward to going again!

We came here with 2 dogs after a walk around the lake and were seated straight away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered some sides to share which were delicious. One of the staff members even came out with some complementary meat for the dogs. We will definitely be back!

The food and restaurant are fine but this place is really let down by the staff. We were served by 3 waiters and 2 were terrible. The first had no idea how to use the tablet he was given to take the orders, had no idea what was on the menu, insisted leaning over us without a mask in the middle of a pandemic and then mid order kept walking off. He also stated that something on the menu was not available (because he couldn't find it on the tablet), only to be told by the decent waiter it had been available all evening. The third waiter needs to be sacked. He was either Spanish or Italian and was downright rude. He tried argue the vouchers we were using only covered drinks which was incorrect. He sighed, rolled his eyes and walked off. He came back stating that he was right and food was not covered. We demanded to see the Manager. At this pointed he made out that he had said only food was included and the 4 of us had misheard him. He has a bad attitude and we will never eat there again. I feel sorry for the 1 good waiter as he will be tarred with the same brush. He is easy to spot he is the only one wearing a mask to protect his customers. Use the Retreat in Staines. Its part of the same restaurant group but has staff that know how to be professional and courteous unlike this lot.

Absolutely disappointing with terrible management! I meant to write this review a few weeks back!My mother, sister and I went to the wheat sheaf for a Sunday roast and before sitting down we asked if there was anything on the menu that they didnāt haveā¦we were told only the roast pork which was great because we didnāt want that!We ordered two veggi roast meals and one steak. We were then told that there was no vegetarian option so we substituted for a mushroom pie.We were then approached many times again to inform us that many things on each of our orders was not available! The meal finally came with half the items on the menu missing and raw undercooked watery veg to accompanyā¦the food was also cold. (Oh sorry I forgot to mention, my mum was give orange squash instead of fresh orange juice which she ordered whilst we were waiting!)We said we were not happy to pay for the main meals as they were not what we ordered (no stuffing, no glazed carrots, no seasonal veg!) and by now it was to late to go anywhere else, plus we were hungry, Iām pregnant and my mum had taken her diabetes medication! We were approached by a manager named Philip who we thought was coming to apologise for all the unavailability but instead said that he was taking our plates away to take pictures of our food to show his manager as to why we were unsatisfied! He was rude, aggressive and made no sense at all as to why he was taking the meals away when we suggested he could take pictures at the tableā¦there was no apology or customer service for our inconvenience. He was quite happy for us to leave without having eaten. At the end of the day you canāt expect customers to pay full price for a meal if they are not getting what you have advertised on the menu! He also spoke to us so rudely in front of other customer which completely embarrassed my OAP mum.If there was less then one star I would have awarded that!

Each year we travel to beautiful Virginia Water Park from London, each year we have an evening meal in this lovely hotel after a long walk in nature and each year weāre completely satisfied with the whole experience! The hotelās pub seems to go through a recent renovation and looks even more polished now, it has multiple rooms to accommodate lots of guests, but it manages to preserve a cozy atmosphere and a classic British pub vibe which we all love so much. The food is great and thereās an abundance of options in the menu. Oh, and the service is always attentive and nice. Weāre going to stick to our tradition and come visit the place next year without doubt š»šš
