We visited for a wedding. The wedding was fantastic but sadly the hotel was let down by the service the next morning. We were told breakfast was served until 10 so we arrived at 9.25 to find empty trays where the buffet had been and were told some were not going to be replenished. They appeared to have not prepared for the number of people wanting breakfast despite knowing how many people had booked rooms. Very disappointing

Staff are so friendly and accomodating, the rooms are lovely and the food is outstanding. We used the spa facilities which were enjoyable and very clean and i had a wonderful massage. Would highly recommend.

Overall enjoyed our stay, with the weather being so good over Easter, it was really good that we could use the rooftop sun terrace in the spa and also eat and drink on the terrace off the drawing room. The choice on the menu was good and the quality of the food we ate over our 2 night stay was excellent. The hotel is quite compact, which in many ways is good, as the lounge, bar and restaurant are all close to each other which is good for people watching! The team are really friendly and most made time to stop and talk to me and the key guest of Poppy Labrador. I will only travel to hotels that accept canine guests as my Labrador is 13 years old and sadly has canine dementia, which is why i chose to come to stay, since HandPicked hotels have welcomed dogs we have been staying at many more of them, it is nice to find quality Joules dog beds and branded food and water bowls, so you know dogs are not simply a bolt on added extra, they are overall treated like the human guests. The rooms quality are OK, they are definitely showing signs of age that would be my only what could be improved, we were in a classic room, which is entry level, but I've found better appointed classics elsewhere and also there is normally opportunity to upgrade the room, but could not do this here with the dog, as the hotel doesn't have many dog friendly rooms

Excellent spa day. Wonderful pool/jacuzzi/sauna. Relaxing facial. Delicious afternoon tea to finish. We chose this over another nearby spa as we weren’t limited to how long we could stay. All the staff were friendly and efficient.

Been to a few events here and they've always been well organised, with friendly and helpful staff and the food is top notch. I recommend an afternoon tea! Their spa is also wonderful and recommended.

Had a very relaxing spa day with my wife for her birthday and valentines day, breakfast, afternoon tea is very nice, all the staff in reception and restaurant where All fantastic and very helpfull, the hot stones and facial massag was out of this world, so relaxing, I would definitely recommend the above, thank you so much Talia for my hot stones and facial massage.Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Had a nice get away weekend here, the staff are friendly, food is good and the spa/gym facilities are excellent. We switched rooms on arrival as the original one was a little small, worth doing as the replacement whilst the same grade was much bigger. Missed some basic things like a fridge in the room and ability to open the windows, but overall a nice stay.

Grossly overpriced for the standard. The pricing is on par with row hill grange which is leagues above. The quality and facilities are substandard, if it’s your first time at a spa you’ll probably have a good time. Some of my feedback is:Facilities: very dated. It actually looks like an old school building, creaky, pool looks abit like a council leisure centre with the magnolia tiles. Abit of a musky smell. No mood lighting so it’s all abit yellow and not very relaxing. Loungers we’re nice though.Treatment: might have been my bad luck, but as part of a full body massage, I’d expect the head and feet to be touched since they are part of the body, no….? I also had a body scrub and the abdomen wasn’t touched which is disappointing since I have stretch marks which would have benefited from exfoliation. The room was nice but cold! I had to ask her to put the heating on since I was freezing under the towel and didn’t warm up for the rest of the day. Facial was good.Biggest disappointment - food. Do not come here on an empty stomach. The breakfast is a small bowl of granola and yoghurt. And lunch isnt hot, just a a salad box. I was starving. My stomach was rumbling at an embarrassing sound because I was that hungry.Overall I will not be returning. Really disappointing experience.

Went for a spa day yesterday with a friend. Had a fab day. Lady in the lounge/bar area was so lovely and friendly, very welcoming. Loved the spa and had an amazing facial. Super relaxing. Didn’t get the therapists name but wished I had so I could give her a mention. She was great!Afternoon tea was delicious. All the staff were very welcoming and lovely. Will definitely be back!

We have stayed at about 7 hand picked hotels and we have just returned from two days at this hotel, and it is my favourite so far. Beautiful room, great food, staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble . Rooms are spotless , no chipped paint anywhere , beautiful hotel, will definitely return x
