I never felt so welcomed as I did in this place. Dog friendly pub, lovely staff, atmosphere, and the food is just delicious, please try the lamb! 😋 I wish to go back soon.

Oldest pub in Folkestone, gets busy at the weekend. Cosy in winter after a walk around the old town. See the corner where Dickens used to drink and the spot Beckett celebrated his secret wedding.Food what you’d expect from a pub like this - hot and tasty but not a Michelin experience.

We Always hesitate when we eat out when travelling. That pub is a gem.Top destination in Folkestone for good food and local friendly atmosphere. We almost went away when we been told they're full. After a 2 minutes conversation, we finally seat near the bar next to a local who was having food.We have been welcome and been put in a really friendly mood straight away. The landlady and the waiter are really really nice and DEFENETLY helpful.Their tap ale 'the forty niners' if i remember well was one of the best i ever had.The roasts were excellent (nut roast & mix beef/pork), brilliant vegetable selection and an unique crispy yorkshire pudding. And at the end, the black cherry went very well with a Grand Marnier. We love this pub.It should be an example for other buisness.Again, Top destination for a roast in Folkestone. Thanks to the team, the landlady & the chef. We'll defenetly b coming back.

Very traditional very old pub with great food and cosy little rooms. Off the tourist drag so it's mainly locals and people googling top pubs to eat and drink in in Folkestone.

·

Best pub in Folkestone. Sensible prices, traditional decor, not pretentious in any way. Always a good number of locals. Barmaid, whilst very busy, easily able to serve 3 or 4 different orders at once

·

Very warm welcome from a fantastic landlady. Fine selection of ales and brilliant food for lunch - salmon and prawn salad delicious. Will be visiting again. Recommended.

·

I popped in for a couple of pints with a small group and would happily stayed longer. This is a cosy place and I will be returning, next time I will try the fish and chips which looked very appetising.I enjoyed very quick service and I highly recommend this place.

·

Charming pub with large beer garden and excellent roasts. Friendly service too

The oldest pub in Folkestone and a very traditional gem. Located above the coast on The Bayle, in a lovely quiet spot next to a church. Received a very friendly welcome.Great choice of ciders & ales, and good, traditional pub grub. Easy to see how it would become a local’s favourite.
