What a great find ! We walked to the pub from our compsite and were so glad we did. We were served by the two Chris’s .. Christian and Christopher . What nice fellas - working so hard but still going beyond and above the call of duty ! Pete the dog was also very welcomed !

Nice pub and setting, however there is little sound insulation in the hotel, and creaky pipes, probably to be expected from an old venue. The menu was poorly marked for what was Gluten Free wasn't actually by default, and items not marked Gluten Free, could be made. Would be simpler to mark Gluten Free Options available. There was an incident of miscommunication resulting in my coeliac partner being given normal bread, but that was down to a lack of diligence from both the Rose and Crown and my partner.

Brilliant little village pub, with the old and new atmosphere,It has cosey seats next to lovely fireplaces which is amazing in the winter, The food cooked here is absolutely amazing quality cooked and served with style. Highly recommended. Also has rooms you can book to stay in which are also very nice!

Enjoyed an excellent delicious dinner with friends at this beautiful pub and restaurant in Elham. The small plates of calamari squid and lamb were so flavorful. For dinner the lamb and pork entrees were beautifully presented and amazed. Truly an unexpected pleasure and restaurant staff: manager Jonathan, chef Luis and our server Romania guided us toward trying the best tasting food. Perfect evening in a perfect setting.

Awful experience and would not recommend to anyone - this used to be a nice pub but after the treatment we experienced the other night, we will not return. My partner and I (local to Elham) came for a meal on Saturday night and the restaurant was fairly busy, but there was only one person serving, as well as occassionally working on the bar. We were very understanding of this when it took a long time to get our food, even though there was no real acknowledgement of how understaffed they clearly were. After finishing our main we waited patiently to have our empty plates removed and order our desserts - in this time another table received their food, had it taken away and had their bill brought over and settled. After our patience wore out, we were trying to catch the employee’s attention and it felt like we were being deliberately ignored - we ended up being the last table left in the restaurant and were still waiting to get our dessert menus! I had to go over to the bar to find help and to place our dessert orders, at which point I was bluntly told that the kitchen had closed. This seemed like a sudden change when all night we had been very polite and friendly to eachother, and we were simply trying to be understanding that the staff were busy and would get to us. When I questioned why we were not informed of this, as we were ready to order long ago and she could see we were waiting, there was no real response. We were forced to come up to the bar and pay, where again there was no communication or actual apology. Not only is it poor service and tainted a rare night out for us, it makes no business sense either why we weren’t served. We will not be coming back and would like to warn anyone else who may be treated in the same way. Additional negatives we found were the rowdy bar - which not only affected the atmosphere of the dining experience, but also felt intimidating and meant we didn’t complain to the extent we wanted to at the time - and the fact that later adding up the bill we realised that we were overcharged. If this was a service charge added without even showing us a receipt, when the whole issue was that we had no service, it would really round off this ridiculous experience!!!

It was a very nice experience. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. All the food was freshly cooked and worth waiting for. We had very generous portions of Sunday roast, fish and chips were a bit overfried, but most enjoyable. Elam village itself is a very pretty place and a good place for nice walks after you had your lovely meal in Crown and Rose.:)

Unfortunately the pub did not match the images seen when we attended. No fire, it was cold and smoky inside and welcome didn't feel warm or inviting. Chairs were sticky and interior was dark. Hopefully only a temporary problem related to downturn in customers due to pandemic

We came here a couple of weeks ago for my birthday dinner and what an enjoyable evening we had. The food was tasty and the service was quick and polite. Great atmosphere, would definitely be back. Keep up the good work :)
