Sandgate Vaults in Shepway

The Sandgate Vaults is somewhere we have walked past a hundred times and never tried but tonight we did and were not disappointed, the food was very good and the service was great. This is a restaurant of two halves upstairs light and modern, downstairs in the vaults is a bit more cosy and intimate.

What a brilliant place . Great staff lovely manager really good chef's the meals were 100% tasty home cooked . Would highly recommend.

Disappointed!Having had this restaurant on our 'to try' list for a long time now I was excited to get the chance to try it out yesterday evening. Sadly it was not to be! We (group of 4 adults) arrived at the restaurant at around 7.45pm yesterday (Monday) evening only to be told by a member of staff that they were not accepting anymore diners and they had closed for the evening. There were some people dining in the restaurant so it wasn't as if it was a totally quiet night and not worth them staying open. The website and advertising for this restaurant clearly states food served daily until 9.30pm. If this is not the case then the business needs to update its hours to show correct information. We have been left feeling very disappointed.

3rd time eating here ,And it's been absolutely fantastic all three times there's little coves down stairs which makes it pleasant when eating as a couple or a full table of quess you can have a lovely natter without hearing the other tables, the menu has plenty to choose from and the staff are very friendly and professional it's clean and tidy and the owners visit each table which is nice ,shows they care for the customers

My daughter recently started working here so we thought we’d give the place a try. Not disappointed at all. Superb roast dinner for £10 and excellent service. Well worth a visit

Fantastic!!! Looks like a small modern restaurant from the outside, but go downstairs into the old bank vaults and it's a very cosy olde atmosphere. Couldn't beat the roast for under £10! Nice size portion and it was quality food. The service was fantastic. And I mean, fantastic! The waitresses in there were working hard on a busy Sunday service and doing a cracking job!! Dogs welcome downstairs too which is lovely for a seaside restaurant/bar. We will be going back soon and it'll be a new regular spot to try out the various "Steak Night" "Pie Night" etc.

Went for Friday evening meal , opted for steak night offer. £29.95 for two people including a bottle of house wine . Excellent value. Food was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked and hot. Have a choice of wines we opted for Castillo Diablo Merlot. Very nice . Service was exceptional, cannot fault.

A very interesting restaurant in Sandgate - but in a good way!The ground floor, where we ate, is a bright and airy space - almost like a showroom. But the basement (vaults) - a variety of spaces - is decorated very differently.The food, on our visit, was good but the service was excellent. The locals seem to favour the vaults but the owners were very keen to show us the area and invite us to the end-of-evening shenanigans!Definitely worth a visit!

We popped-in for our first visit on Saturday afternoon, after a long, chilly walk from Hythe. We took a table upstairs which was nice & bright due to the large front windows; downstairs in the cellar was a bit dark for us for a mid-day meal.I had cod & chips with peas, my wife had chicken breast in a creamy sauce, new potatoes & vegetables. Both were very good.We followed-up with a fantastic pudding each; rhubarb & ginger crumble with custard, and a raspberry brulée cheesecake - both were delicious :)A good pint of IPA too!Remarkably, on their Monday to Saturday lunch special, two courses costs just £9.95 - honest! Too good to miss!!
