The Coach House Coffee Shop in Shepway

We have been to this cafe before and it’s usually been fine. I’m not sure if it’s under new management since our visit last year, but the owner treated us with outright contempt today: firstly we made the mistake of actually walking into the cafe to choose our cakes and coffee and were told that it was table service only (we were sat outside). Fair enough, but it would be nice to actually see the cakes and we didn’t need the eyes to the heavens attitude from the owner. Having looked at the nice selection of cakes and made our decision, we inadvertently went to place our order over the counter and were reminded in no uncertain terms it was table service and that was “how it works here”. We were spoken down to and made to feel uncomfortable. We left and went elsewhere. I can understand that working with the public can be frustrating at times, but if you’re in the service industry, then you can find nice ways to advise your customers in the error of their ways that does not make them feel unwelcome.

A gem of a place. Family run. Great cozy armchairs one end for a tea and cake. The pecan slice was so good I bought another to go. The dinner menu also looked very tasty!Visited while husband was kite surfing in Greatstone - only 8 mins drive away. There’s a car park right there/ some on street parking.

This is a superb little restaurant, the food is just incredible and all cooked to order. Lovely service it’s an absolutely amazing find and will be a firm favourite of ours.Exceptional food and wine and all at a very price. Just lovely in every respect

We had a meal there whilst staying the weekend in Dymchurch. What can I say… the food was awesome.. we had three 9 year olds with us & they loved the food. Friendly atmosphere & we were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived..the prices were more than reasonable. Highly recommended 😄

Had family down so visited this place for the first time to eat. First the staff, who are attentive and lovely people. The food was delicious and I went for one of their big burgers. It didn't disappoint and the portions were of a good size. The burger was cooked to perfection. The coffee is really good here as well. All in all, a really good place to stop for just a coffee or for lunch as we did. Thank you guys.

Great food friendly staff and a very pleasant evening. Definitely been going back there when I'm next down that way.
