The Pilot Inn in Shepway

Really wanted to be impressed...was excited for our fish & Chip Supper.Sadly, vastly overrated.Yes: massive portion. But not well cooked. Heavy greasy batter dominated the fish flavour.In my opinion: pricey...perhaps not in the South East.Good, friendly service, if a little muddled.Lovely location.Overall...seems to split the crowd...most like it...we didn't.

Went there for a meal and had a lovely meal with the family. Despite being a bit of a lump of a man I struggled to eat everything. Absolutely delicious and the portions very generous. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, good beer and beautiful views. The staff very helpful and couldn't do enough. Great place.

I was really looking forward to my fish and chips after a 5 mile walk. I had heard it was good but I was sadly disappointed. The fish was plenty large but the quality was poor. The cod was watery and literally tasteless. Service was pretty good which is why I have it a 3 otherwise, It would have rated less. Nice situation and busy but food quality not so much.

Is this the best a fish & chips is the world? We think so.We’ve visited many times and TBH inside was way way to busy for us as a family at the moment (thanks Covid.) Luckily, they have lots of outdoor tables and a good system where one person can order inside quickly then collect drink/food from the outside window when the buzzer rings. This combined with some very balmy 15degree weather made our visit possible today.

Friendly and helpful staff, arrived a few mins before they were due to stop serving for take aways, however, still happy to take our order. Great value and the sausage and chips tasted great. Will be back again in 2022.

Friendly staff. Lots of hygiene stations everywhere. Good chips. Clean toilets. Food was good quality too.We didn't order much as we had a reservation elsewhere but the fish and chips looks delicious and generous portion size. All the customers ordered it!

Very clean. Well spaced tables. Toilets clean. Food delicious. Large car park. Very busy so quite a wait for food but all cooked fresh so worth the wait. Highly recommended

Well maintained pub with bags of charm. Great for the kids and your dog too. Foods gorgeous with great portion sizes. A pleasure to visit
