Charming, historic pub in the gorgeous sandgate, metres from the sea front. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and a wide selection of beers, ales, wines and spirits. I am told that the food is also excellent and will have to try it next time.

We were visiting relatives in Sandgate on a Sunday and were taken to The Providence for lunch. Lots on offer but most of us opted for the Sunday roast. Fabulous! Beef, chicken or lamb with locally grown vegetables and a crispy Yorkshire pud. Good value and served by friendly staff.

Really loved our evening here. The food is very good and great quality but the drinks (wine list, digestives etc) really need upgrading to match. Service was good and the atmosphere of the place was great

Excellent, warm friendly staff, good choice of beer and ale, food was great too. Quite small but that just adds to the homely ambience.

·

Great food, especially seafood, lovely cosy clean interior with a double sided fire place, friendly people and good drinks! Favourite pub in the area

Just got home after an absolutely superb meal with my wife, son and our friends. We had Sunday dinner with starters and I can honestly say the beef was so tender and the flavour in the vegetables was superb! As a big fan of Yorkshire pudding it was huge but perfectly shaped too. Fantastic service, can't wait to go back. Highly recommend

Outstandingly good food, locally sourced (thanks Folkestone Trawlers Ltd.!). We were impressed by the energy drive and efficiency of our host and the very talented chef. They are combining the traditional English pub with great food and a pleasant ambience. We can highly recommend it. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Absolutely loved the foods! As a tourist, do recommend it. Great flavour, fresh seafoods! Lovely service too. We had the special menu on the board!

Lovely little place, limited out door seating, but on a hot day was lovely and cool to sit in side for a drink and lunch after walking along the beach. Food was fantastic the best burger I've had in a restaurant, and the chunky double fried chip were delicious. The photo of the burger doesn't do it justice I'd unfortunately not waited to take the picture before a bite. The hot dog was also really good. Yummy properly home cooked food, without a long wait. Guy on the bar was friendly, polite and really welcoming. Felt safe and followed covid guildlines without it effecting the atmosphere.

Really great pub in Sandgate. Made to feel very welcome by the owner, Darryl.Good choice of drinks and extensive food menu. Shared the whitebait starter and had the chef’s special gammon main course - all good quality ingredients, well seasoned and well cooked.Very friendly locals - a testament to a good pub - would be easy to become a local here.
