Great pub. Went there for lunch on a weekday and staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was excellent. And all at a decent price. (what I would expect to pay for the meals we had). Would definitely recommend.

Lovely place to stay, really friendly staff, fresh, clean room, great food, outdoors beer garden was impressive where it was laid out well to suit everyone (shaded area). Great location, short pleasant walk to the beach. We loved our stay. Thanks to all the staff

Attended a wake at the lion. Were given a separate area to gather away from the usual pub crowd; which was nice. Service was polite & respectful. Food was plentiful & quietly brought in while drinks were served throughout. There was also access to an outdoor area if we wished to be outside & for the smokers. There was access for all. Parking was limited but there was plenty of parking within walking distance. Would definitely choose the venue for this type of event in the future.

We visited The Red Lion for lunch at midday on a Wednesday in the May half term holiday whilst visiting the area. Half of our large party were toddlers /under 5s. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff, for example by children's cutlery being provided without having to ask for it. The staff all seemed to be very happy to be working here! The restaurant area felt spacious and pleasant rather than dingy. The toilets were clean. It seems that the pub has recently been renovated or similar - for example the baby change unit looked like it hadn't been used yet. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the swordfish, the ribs, the house burger, the kids had Bolognese, followed by the chocolate brownie and ice cream. Don't let that chef leave!

Stayed here Monday to Friday in April for a bit of a getaway from it all break and was delighted with our choice, the place was spotless throughout. Our room No 2 was large light and airy the bed was quite big and very comfortable, our on suite bathroom and shower were very clean and in excellent order. The hosts and staff were also excellent and made us very welcome the whole time. Restaurant, food fantastic as was the ale 🍺 and not too expensive. Overall we had a brilliant 5 day's visiting Dover Castle, Rye and the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway plus several walks along the beach which was only a short walk from the Inn. Tom and Jane.

Conveniently situated. Smallish car park. Visited this pub for the first time after a friends funeral. Some nice outdoor seating areas. Buffet food was delicious. Staff were were friendly and efficient.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. The serving staff were very friendly, with a cheerful smile. Our Sunday roast was excellent: I judge pub restaurant roasts by the roast potatoes, as that is the hardest to taste like home cooked - ours were superb!I can highly recommend the Red Lion and would definitely go there again.

Very pleasant 2 night stay for a coastal walking weekend. We chose the location for convenience to Hythe High Street, military canal and the steam railway. Plus there is ample parking. Hosts, Mark and Barry, made us very welcome and we enjoyed lovely breakfasts. We didn't eat in, but really wished we had as dinner menus looked fab. We did enjoy a sneaky dessert on one evening, which was a delight. All the staff were very friendly welcoming, our rooms were spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well decorated. Highly recommended and I'd definitely stay there again. Thank you for the warm welcome - it really made our weekend.

Really nice 2 night stay in room 8 of this lovely old pub/restaurant. Very large double aspect en-suite room with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. Room overlooks the A259 but there was no issue with road noise at night. Restaurant serves the most delicious meals at very reasonable prices and the staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend πŸ‘Œ

Totally faultless for the very reasonable price we paid. Staff were very polite an friendly without being at all intrusive. The room was pristinely clean, the bed was very comfortable and we had a lovely quiet night sleep. Breakfast was delicious and served piping hot. There were vegan and veggie options available. Location wise it is great with free parking and being just a short walk from the High St and the sea front.
