Stewart & Wendy are great hosts. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Was super pleased to have found this little gem to stay in. We had the top floor, bedroom and sitting room with gorgeous sea views. Bed was comfortable, ensuite spotlessly clean. For breakfast there were lots to choose from and cooked fresh to perfection. The pub itself was quaint, historical with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu in the restaurant has a good choice of food too. Would highly recommend. If in this area again, would definitely make a reservation. Thank you Stewart & Wendy

My friend and I went for Sunday lunch. Firstly the upholstery on the chairs were stained which wasn't very pleasant. We ordered roast beef dinners and waited a good 20 mins before our plates arrived with roast beef, one very small Yorkshire pudding and 3 roast potatoes and quite thin gravy already on the plate. We waited for the vegetables but the waitress came out with a bowl of soup for the next table, then went back to the kitchen and came out with a plate with bread for the next table, then went back to the kitchen and after another couple of minutes came out with our vegetables. There were 3 small florets of cauliflower and a very small dish with 5 carrots and a few runner beans all of the vegetables were under cooked to the point of being almost raw. They were lukewarm and by the time we got them the meat and potatoes were cold. The roast potatoes had been roasted then warmed up as they were so hard you couldn't get your fork in them. The waitresses were lovely and when I told them it was cold and the vegetables were inedible they came back to say they had taken off the price of the drinks which was only a small glass of wine and a diet coke so we still paid ÂŁ30 for the worst Sunday lunch ever!

The place has changed hands Stewart who ran it for years has retired. Food OK but will need to return to say anything else, the staff were smart but a little slow in my opinion. But Steward is a hard act to follow

Found this place by accident while down on a night out. Can I just say what a pleasant surprise. The service from our server who I think was called Chloe was good. And as for the food it was simply to die for. The scollops were properly cooked and the carrot purée complimented it very well. The fish and chips was also stunning. You could tell everything was cooked fresh. And the crème brûlée was amazing! Good job guys. It’s hard to impress me with food. But you did just that. Definitely will be coming back next time I’m down. Thank you

Sadly we can't give a good review anymore. We've been coming here for years, but it has now changed ownership and it feels like the change has not been a good one so far. The supply of real-ale beers is unreliable, and on some days there may be very little choice. They seem to run the barrels down to the very last drop, leaving old, stale beer in them, so it's not unusual to get a mouthful of vinegar. There seem to be very few people who know how to change a barrel, do if they are not in, there's no beer. The food seems to have suffered too, it was always of a high standard, but now seems more like a Cafe than a Pub Restaurant. A great shame but, because there's been nothing we can drink for the last few months, we will not be returning.

We came for an early New Year lunch. Although we had a bit of a wait, it was really worth it. Freshly cooked, and lovely food and excellent service from our lovely waitress. It was a lovely experience.

It is under new management so please be warned!!!! Our experience sadly was not a good one.the starters were lovely and the evening looked promising but 45 minutes later they told me the mussels that I had ordered were off. 45 minutes! I had to reorder and when that food finally came out... My friend 2 meals had been left somewhere not keeping the food warm.the food was very over priced for the below standard.. Ie I could have cooked better at home. Also 3 table being used and all of us squiched together because of auto booking on a compu. With covid and these times. You would like to see better provisions for their clients.
