The Varne Fish Bar in Shepway

Absolutely delicious. A proper fish and chips shop with fantastic food that takes you back to a time thought lost. Looks like an ice cream parlour inside (which is appropriate as they also do ice cream by the scoop!) Limited seating inside but a very warm welcome from the owners. Highly recommended.

Had the fish and chips on Saturday 2nd July for 5. With also 2 curry sauces and mushy peas. Best fish and chips and really tasty. When we are next in Romney again we will definitely be coming back.

The Best fish and chips!...I only eat fish from this shop. My husband and i drive from Ashford just to eat the perfectly cooked fish, skinless with the crispest batter...oh...and the chips! They are cooked in beef dripping...yum!Thankyou guys for the wonderful food that always comes with a smile 😁...see you again soon!

It is too much of a secret to tell you how good this place is, we go there quite regularly the couple who run the fish and chip bar are the nicest couple we’ve met for a long time the fish and chips are immaculate the fish with its beautiful crisp not so thick batter and the chips cooked in lard, not politically correct I hear some people say and I say to those people go %%%% yourself. We turned up as a group of 15,and I'm glad we chose here to eat. The food was great, really happy with it all, portions were big and the staff were so friendly! They went the extra mile to accommodate us. Highly recommend.

Great fish and chips, good curry sauce too!We've visited a few times as have a caravan at New Romney caravan park and always been happy with food, good sized portions. We rang ahead as it can get busy.

Wow, :-) I can see that great fish and chips at Dungeness is not just limited to The Pilot. The Varne Fish and Chip Bar was bright clean with lovely staff and absolutely first class fish and chips at a great price. The best we'd tried in Kent so far :-)

Warm and wonderful service from a lovely couple. Food was perfect. Exactly what we needed from a seaside fish and chips bar. Brilliant menu options and brilliant experience. They’re slightly tucked away so you might miss them if you happened to miss the sign but so glad we stumbled across them. Well worth the 10 second detour on our rented bikes! Thanks so much guys!
