Let's start with the food OMG it's amazing perfectly cooked too much to eat .. The staff made us feel so welcome and at home we was all laughing and joking as if we knew each other for years. Definitely going back when passing. 5* all round

The most awful place you could go to. Rude staff and the owner is terrible. She should not be running a pub as she does not know how to. The food is disgusting sloppy food thrown together by unskilled kitchen staff. Service was terrible with a very young boy who wanted to fight everyone and he turned out to be the owners son! My advice is to avoid at all costs until these owners move on. Then hopefully this pub will return to how it used to be.

We have been coming to The Woolpack for years, mostly when Barry owned it - a lovely old pub then with good food and friendly welcoming staff. Yesterday, we experienced something very different - I had the steamed bacon and onion pudding with gravy, on the specials board, the pudding was like eating thick cardboard, I just couldn't eat it plus there was no gravy, the mash potato was thick and lumpy and vegetables were hard and there was no presentation, everything was just piled on our plates - come back Barry, he use to make superb steamed puddings. My husband had trout with new potatoes and he requested salad instead of vegetables and all he got was a garnish. Our friends had the pies and mash and found them hard to eat and the mash lumpy. The puddings weren't much better especially the crumble which was laden with crumble but hardly any fruit and piled into a cereal bowl. So disappointing and when you pay nearly a hundred pounds for a meal for four people you surely expect something a bit better. Not sure we will be coming back. Celia Wust

Arrived just after opening on a Thursday evening. The pub is quaint and situated ina lovey location. We were welcomed by a cheerful bubbly lady, who even made the dog feel welcome by introducing him to Stanley another fluffy visitor.Drinks were served straight away and menu's perused. One sirloin steak and two grilled trout were ordered. The portions were very generous and the fish was very tasty. No room for desserts.Service was great, couldn't fault a thing. The dog even got a bowl of water and biscuits what more could you want.

To give 1 star I feel is too much but I'm unable to leave no stars. We have visited the woolpack numerous times when the pub was run by the previous owners. Visited today and I am appalled that in this day and age with businesses trying to recover from covid, that places like this exist. My Mother and I queued up to order food and when it was our turn, we were asked our outside table number, I said I didn't know and the ladies response was "get with the programme, are you for real "she shouted at us but I thought she was joking, she wasn't.....I then asked a question about the prawn salad and was told "no prawns they will be here tomorrow" I said oh OK we didn't know that, so had to choose something else on the spot...we then asked if the trout was filleted her response was, its got a head and hurry up ive got a queue and was very very rude stating how she had to get back into the kitchen and we were wasting her time.I politely told the lady we wouldn't bother as it was all obviously too much for her and i begrudged giving £100.00 plus for meals for our party when I had been spoken to like that. I told my husband who went back into the bar to asked the lady why she was rude and she shouted at him that she had 2 staff members off sick and she was busy, he spoke quietly and politely to her and she screamed at him across the bar....then a young man came out and shouted get out of my pub.....all i can say is OMG, UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL......the previous owners were lovely always friendly and would stop and talk to our dog and give her treats and would remember her name when we went back.....their food was great too....we didn't get a chance to sample this food but after being verbally abused, will never visit this place again.....we have a holiday home in Hythe which we rent and would gladly recommend any establishment in the area to our clients......this is one we will be warning them against. I suggest that being in the hospitality business means putting your customers first and going above and beyond and not talking to people like that...

Shame it's a brewery pub, the beers are OK but none I really like but the food was amazing as always, proper pub food and proper portions. Beautifully old traditional pub that you have to duck to get in. Could spend all day in there drinking if there was better beers but will always be back for the food, very reasonably priced as well. I do recommend but I can't help but moan about the beer choice!

Lovely 15th century pub. Dog friendly in the front and restaurant at the back. Open wood burning fire. Lovely friendly staff. Just watch your head if tall!

Quaint old style pub. Enjoyed ham sandwich with salad garnish and chips. Good beer.
