Monsoon in South Oxfordshire

I ordered online via deliveroo at 9 pm and i recieved my order at 0035 noon. Which is awful. I had to call several times and the owner kept on dragging that he will deliver to me and at last he said he himself will make the order and delivered such an awful order. I didnt get my order properly as well.. i think he had brought what is left behind.. hate that cheating…just cheated on the order…

Will definitely be ordering again! One of the best curries I’ve had in Oxford in a long time! Little bit of a wait for deliver but in their defence, it was Saturday night and they were busy. Chicken so tender, all dishes full of flavour! Top marks!

Five of us had a lovely evening yesterday. Fantastic food.

My wife and I had a great meal at Monsoon last night. The restaurant is located next to The Chequers Inn and was probably a component of that establishment at one time. There is still a door connecting the two businesses and it means that the alcohol menu for Monsoon's reflects what is available at the Inn, which is fantastic!! I took advantage of the beer menu and ordered a draught beer, whilst my wife ordered a Mango Lassi. The beer was great and the Mango Lassi was one of the best my wife has ever tasted.On the food side, we ordered Lamb Korma, Palak Paneer (its called Sak Ponner at Monsoons), garlic naan, regular naan and coconut rice. All dishes were well prepared and extremely tasty. There was too much for one sitting, but they packed the left over food up in takeaway containers and we're about to enjoy the remainder of meal again for lunch today.We can highly recommend the place based on our experience last night.

I ordered a chicken madras but received madras soup with 4 bits of chicken and massive piece of hard tomato. The naan bread was soggy on one side but cooked on the other. The mint sauce was pink, how does it turn pink? And the poppadoms were burnt. Most went in the bin sadly. This was my first and last time ordering from here.

Come on guys - we literally live over the road and you still can’t deliver warm, edible food. All dishes needed re-heating, popadoms were burnt(!) and how you manage to burn one side of the Nan bread while the other side was still soggy the is a mystery. I’ve only given 1 star as there isn’t an option to give zero, and, based on the last time we had an order this bad, it isn’t worth complaining. This used to be a brilliant place foe dining in or takeaway…..do better…..

Decent meal, fair price, friendly staff, great night out. First time in here since it changes hands and impressed with everything. Will be back for meals out and takeaways.

A disappointing curry and a somewhat misleading bill!We often used to come here when it was Aziz and decided to venture in under the new ownership, especially as it has such good Google reviews.The first thing I noticed was that the atmosphere has faded. There was just one, slightly jaded member of staff on duty and the music that used to play has been replaced by a quiet, nondescript radio station, complete with mumbled voices between unintelligible music.The choice of beers from The Chequers next door has improved (maybe just go there and sustain yourself on peanuts), and the poppadoms remain plentiful (yet more expensive than previously).However, the curry has dropped in quality. I had a bland chicken jalfrezi and my friend a somewhat saucy chicken tikka masala (as in, it was all sauce, minimal chicken…) The lemon rice was a bit heavy on the lemon peel and the garlic nan surprisingly chewy. Everything on the menu seems to be 25% more expensive than it used to be, maybe that’s Covid, maybe that’s how to cover the rent in a failing restaurant, who knows?But, whatever, it was a curry and some beers with a friend. But then the bill came. The usual scribbled nonsensical accounting was presented to us. Usually I’d just pay up but something seemed amiss. Printed in bold letters at the bottom was an assurance that “SERVICE IS NOT INCLUDED” - however, halfway down the bill, between what looked like the curries and the rice, was something that appeared to be “S/C = £3.50”I wondered aloud to the waiter what this was, in an embarrassed undertone he explained that it was “10% service charge”. (I stopped short of highlighting that 10% of £40 isn’t £3.50…) I pointed out that this was a little deceitful, paid in full and left vowing never to return.(They also used to give you little chocolate mints with the bill… oh how I miss the little chocolate mints)There are better curries in Headington, sold by more honest people. Avoid Monsoon (but do go to the Chequers for a pint - nice pub, good beer, lovely garden in the summer!)

Great tasty Indian food

Excellent curry, decent value for money, prepared quickly. We had mostly vegetarian curries which tasted really great. The one non-vegetarian the meat was really tender. All round great Indian takeaway experience!
