Smarts Fish Bar in South Oxfordshire

Found the shop unclean, the lady was coughing everywhere and I could hear her child in the background coughing too. The chips were cold. And fish so oily - Won't be going back!

We are from Grimsby 200 miles away we are staying in Henley on Thames for three weeks.Grimsby is famous for its fish.I frequented this fish and chip shop in Henley twice and the fish and chips were superb.The haddock was cooked just right nice and flaky and not too much batter and they only cook to order so as not to let the food dry out and go cold.we took them back to our motorhome where we were staying at the caravan and motorhome club site called Henley four oaks and enjoyed our Haddock and chips for tea.The proprietor and his wife were a lovely couple who were originally from Spain and they were very friendly and accomadating.we will visit them again soon when we are back down here again.

Fish is fabulous. Chips are a bit hit or miss on soggy v crispy. Cash only so you are warned!

Friendly , chips good . I ordered a burger with all the trimmings , like it is in there picture. So lettuce onions and tomatoes fully loaded and cheese and sauce .Opened mine and a stale hard bun and a piece of burger meat . Called up to ask about the rest of the ingredients, and then fobbed me off and then hung up.... not going back

This was the second fish and chip shop in Henley-on-Thames we tried and the best of the two. The fish was very fresh and nicely battered, chips were nice and crisp spam fritter was good, The Only One criticism was sausage in batter did seem quite oily. But easier to park than the first fish and chip shop we tried. The only other comment I would add was the chicken kebabs were unusual in respect they had a curry flavour to them as well but we're nice.

Great tasty food, we had cod and sausage and chicken. All cooked to perfection. Chip portions are huge, 2 would have done 4 of us, 3 if someone v hungry. Good value too.

Yep, this is the one I recommend in Henley. Fresh, well taken care of and really nice service.
