Lovely place, highly recommend the pizza!! The only thing we didn't like was the soup of the day, much too sour and weird taste. But otherwise lovely vibes.Pizza definitely one of the best I've ever had

You can tell the quality of a good eatery by its toilets lol - I’m pleased to report they’re impeccable. Enjoyed delicious pizzas which were truly superb with the most idyllic environment to add to the ambiance. Definitely worth a stop. The author Evelyn Waugh of ‘Brideshead Revisited’ fame wrote some of his best works here.

Came for Sunday lunch. Would not return.Starter of mackerel and creme fraiche tasted of nothing but cracked black pepper. To the point it burned the mouth.Main of roast beef. Beef was very rare, which would have been good if the cut of meat was decent. Instead it was stringy, full of gristle and only suitable for slow cooking. Potatoes ranged in colour from golden to rock hard dark brown almost burnt. They seemed to have been precooked and heated up in a deep fat fryer. Yorkshire pudding tasted like underdone cake mix. Had no rise or bite to it.Every plate we had for the mains had chips round the edges. Many of the other plates we saw at other tables had similar chips on the edges. This is a Food Standards Agency concern as bacteria can collect.Staff were inattentive and had to be asked to take a drink order and didn't offer sauces with mains. Seemed unconcerned that we had some concerns with quality.

Wonderful food and friendly staff. We booked because of the location (just up the road from RSPB Otmore); we knew the food would be good but it significantly exceeded expectations. 3 generations of carnivores and veggies all loved their meals and the puddings were superb.

Amazing 17th century pub. A beautiful garden with view over the rolling hills and in a very relaxing and quiet setting. The food is very good. For a nibble with a glass of wine, get the sharing charcuterie board. Won't be disappointed

Absolutely delightful place. We lunched there on a Saturday after the first half of our walk in the area. Menu and food superb and well-priced. Portion sizes just right and service friendly and efficient. A few well-kept beers on tap. My only sorrow was that I couldn't stay longer!

The pub itself is lovely and the views spectacular. Drinks were ok. I was impressed to see veggie options listed first on the menu so felt optimistic that they had been given priority rather than an after thought. I was wrong. Our food was pretty woeful. The calamari starter was rather greasy and tasteless; the veggie burger was worst - a stodgy bland deepfried bomb of mush somewhat strangely topped with cheddar cheese melted to a crisp and served with average chips, the accompanying slaw was in fact a chopped salad. It was nice but much improved with a little vinaigrette. The scampi was overcooked and dry. In fairness, the pizzas that other customers were eating looked lovely. I wish we had gone for them. The waiting staff were attentive and efficient but not all interested in our feedback on the food. They said the reason the burger was bad was it contained beetroot?! I've had great burgers with beetroot before. Not here.

Excellent food. I had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and was combined with veg and a range of flavours that perfectly complemented rather than competing with the main tastes. The service was also excellent, and the views (we were outside on the covered terrace at the back) are positively therapeutic. An unhurried and delightful lunch at a very reasonable price.

I don’t know what to say about this pub. I have been here multiple times for drinks and have really enjoyed myself. Yet going for food definitely brings the quality down. The service just deteriorates, the waiters are un attentive, I ask for cutlery to eat my food and one of the waiters questioned why I needed cutlery and what cutlery I needed. We went for pizza another time and we arrived at 6:30, the food arrived at 8:30, we left at 9. For the price of the food and not great quality food, I wouldn’t eat there again, but I would go there for a drink and for the views in the beer garden.I hope that helps. I’ve attached photos from my two visits when I’ve had food.
