The Anchor in South Oxfordshire

We were a group of six visiting Oxford snd wanted something away from the city centre. Lovely neighbourhood pub with very good service and good food. We had an issue with just one dish which the manager acknowledged and made no attempt to find excuses. Its worth a visit.

Good atmosphere, nice staff, really good food. Relaxing vibe, dogs friends playing board games, open fire, chilled terrace. Probably my favourite pub in Oxford a refreshing change from the slightly generic pizza, burger student quiz night offerings of other Oxford pubs.

Don't eat here. The Sunday Roast was actually terrible. The meat roast was cold, hard and chewy (we asked for a refund for the kids as they couldnt eat it) and the veggie roast was bland, burnt and cold. Waiter said its recently changed management and that's the reason it's awful. Probably a good pub to have a pint in but that's about it.

Love this pub. They just do the basics well. Well kept range of beers and lager. Great menu. It’s not cheap but it’s comfortable and civilised!

Sadly they have turned their car park into an outdoor eating area (blooming covid!!!). So parking is a pain in a busy residential area at the weekend.

A nice pub just off the canal for great food. We stopped and had a selection of the starters, that actually turns out to be a tapas based lunch. The food quality was top notch. Good staff. Outdoor seating under a canopy

Stylish decor, great atmosphere with attentive service. The ribs fell off the bone and the orange blossom cheesecake was fantastic. Just note there is a 10% service charge which I believe should always be discretionary

Loved this gastro pub!! The staff is super friendly, the menu is amazing and decently priced and all of our food, bar none, tasted AMAZING! I would definitely recommend it if you are visiting Oxford.The only reason I knocked a star off, and my feedback to the establishment, is that your gents rest room definitely needs some TLC and a revamp ASAP as it’s very dated and awkward at the moment. It’s more dodgy pub than gastro pub… so something to look into :)Other than that, thank you for a great lunch/afternoon!

Great pub in Oxford to visit, especially while you can only sit outdoors!All ran very well, tables greatly spaced, heaters and fire pits everywhere, all under cover, really smart and we'll put together.Table service for drinks which was very fast. We only had a few side orders of food, but they were so good!We visited for a outdoors comedy night and it was great! So good for somewhere to put on entertainment while everything is still outdoors.Only thing I can say is that be warned it is a lot further from Oxford Train station/center of the city then expected! We had quite a hike to get up there, and by end of the night needed a taxi back.

Wonderful gastropub set next to the canal with private dining rooms.At short notice, they arranged 24 of us to have dinner and provided amazing private dining rooms next to each other upstairs. Beautiful setting and great food. Most of the group loved their food, but a few had an issue with their burgers. Wonderful accommodating manager, great range of food including vegan and gluten free options. Good selection of drinks. Nice pub in a gorgeous setting. Small car park to the rear and Street parking available.
