Went here a few months ago had a lovely meal Staff wonderful nice clean pub lovely beer garden would return here again

Beautiful pub with lovely grounds, plenty of grassy space, and a stream running by, great for kids.Unfortunately they were short staffed so service wasnt particularly quick, we were warned that food would take 40 minutes but only when we ordered, and as we were a large group who had booked weeks in advance and travelled from different places to be there we didnt really have any option other than waiting. It took a bit over 40 minutes in the end.The food was excellent when it arrived, however.

Nice location, friendly staff lots to choose from on the menu. We enjoyed our Mothers days lunch/dinner £20 for 3 courses , all three courses were lovely. Looking forward to returning in the summer to enjoy their seating outside by the river

Been a few times. Great location by the river, especially nice in Spring/Summer and then being able to eat outside. Good choice on the menu and Sunday Roast is great value for money. Well worth a visit.

·

The waiting time for food today was unacceptable - 1 1/2 hours. No explanation or apology offered. It was a bank holiday and they admitted to being short staffed but only when asked on paying!

Great little pub. Nice size car park. Plenty of seating. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice menu choice not to expensive to put you off.Food was tasty. Will be going back soon.Found the staff attentive towards our needs.Well done Hannah and team.

Visited this evening, uncomplicated order, wine arrived immediately but service was appalling. Eventually we were advised they had no sea bass, but having substituted a salmon dish we then waited forever. The other diners (presumably locals, were served in the meantime). A £50+ bill but no farewell or thanks - or apology for the dreadful service. People had come in who were obviously (rich) patrons and they had all the attention. Unless you live in Shabbington, and are rich, don’t bother.

Had lovely evening celebrating our anniversary with friends. Service and food was excellent. Great menu choice. There is also a gluten free menu with lots of selection. Would definitely recommend.

Wednesday lunchtime experience. Ordered a Caesar's salad that arrived 40 minutes later. This was the sorriest salad you could imagine. A few pieces of (not even trimmed for the brown bits) lettuce, some grated cheese , 2 anchovies, some stale bread posing as croutons and an unseasoned egg cut in half for £8.29.

We visited for the Bank Holiday and the weather was glorious. We came down to visit as we'd been watching Midsomer Murders and this pub was one of the filming locations and looked lovely. We were pleased to find there were tourist booklets to complete the Midsomer Murders trail. We sat outside and were socially distanced very well. Although it took a little while to be served, the service itself was excellent (there were staffing shortages and the fine bank holiday weather meant more visitors). The food portion was very generous and good value for money. We had the fish dishes and they were really tasty. The location and food were both lovely, we would definitely make the trip to come down again.
