Tried out for the first time on a Friday lunchtime. Not much atmosphere as the place was virtually empty. Nice and clean and tidy and very friendly staff.Personally we found the menu very limited with only 6 mains listed, 2 of which were taco dishes. We ended up with 2 burgers and 1 steak and ale pie. Food was OK, but we felt light for the price. We've driven by many times on the way into Reading and we were looking forward to trying it out... But overall, we left a little disappointed with the experience.

Best steak pie, and fish and chips delicious, will be back. 1st class and a beautiful place, staff very friendly and dog friendly

Very poor selection on menu. Only 6 mains. No specials board. And the drinks are expensive. Did not stay to eat and went elsewhere. I did do my homework on your menu on line. It shows a sample menu so we were expecting more choices but the sample menu is the full menu. I never rated the food as I did not eat. And £25.20 for 3 drinks and a soft drink is expensive. As for staff shortages that's not my problem.

Outstanding Sunday Roast - among the best we've ever had. Super friendly, smiling helpful staff and they treated our dog like another customer. Shall be telling all the Creative to come and eat here. (100plus members) Will 100% come here again in 2022

Just enjoyed a lovely evening meal here. The food was amazing and served by lovely helpful staff. I love the atmosphere of this pub and it happened to be playing a great choice of music. We will definitely be back.❤️

We had been looking forward to visit the Pack Saddle again as had not been there in years. Having had some positive recommendations we visited last night. Sadly we were extremely disappointed. They offer small or main portion options. This was the main size portion £17 for the beef. Looked very much a small portion. The staff were friendly and attentive but may have lacked some hygiene training. Our drinks were all held around the upper rim of the glass rather than lower down when placed on the table. The ladies rest room was completely out of loo paper and in looked like they could have done with a bit of a clean. We chose to leave the 15% off food vouchers behind as we will not be going back.Update: for done reason my photo won’t upload to show you that the food covered les than. 1/4 of the plate.

Dropped in for Lunch. The small plate menu looks fun at first. They are sample sized not enough to share just tasting options. Priced at almost £9.00 a plate its not cheap. A good starter at the other pubs nearby for under £7 is much better value and you could share those. The idea is different not sure the silver pound crowd will want to spend £25 a head for a pub lunch and go home hungry. No alcohol. Sorry not coming back just didn't do it. Correct : We ordered 5 dishes between 3 which cost £73 quid for a small plate lunch. Whilst the wagamama concept of, it all comes at different times is popular in city centres, in a pub setting out of town on a business meeting it didn't work for us. The reply by the business is somewhat short sighted in that they have slated the consumer and disregarded the review rather than accept the critic and consider whether footfall in this area with this menu is workable. Time will tell or perhaps the till roll will. Fyi the cauliflower dish is just dressed up macaroni cheese!

I used to love this place for a Sunday roast. I think they're under new management because I went here yesterday with my family and we all agreed that its gone completely down hill. The roast potatoes were more like jacket potatoes, the "roast chicken" wasn't even an actual roast dinner. When we asked where our pork scratchings were, they bought out a tiny 3cm pork scratching. The gravy is more like a thick jus. Was very disappointing. In reply to your response:As stated, the potatoes tasted awful. Not the traditional roast I'd expect.I usually take my meat medium rare, it came out rare and chewy. My nieces refused to eat half their plate because they hated the gravy. So there is your answer on taste. Also, It's not been years since I was last there. This would be my 5th visit this year and I've visited many times before. The food is usually good. But this time it was disgraceful and a let down to our important family event.

Booked earlier in week to take French Taekwondo friends, honestly thought we were going for good old English pub grub but had the most amazing experience!Food was more tapas like, but really generous portions, SO so tasty. The chef came out to see us to explain the new menu and spent time talking through each dish. We ordered most of it and had the best night. Both meat and veggie choices were 10/10. Thank you all, we’ll be recommending the attentive service and welcome given to us. Waitress even spoke French - such a warm hospitable welcome.

Lovely location. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The service and food were to a good quality. Would definitely return for food in future.
