Pretty, half-timbered 16th-century inn, with a large deck area, serving steaks and gastropub fare.

The staff were really lovely and friendly and the pub isn’t bad, but the food was very disappointing. The single vegetarian option was asparagus, egg and hollandaise sauce for £15 which, compared to the rest of the food on the menu, felt ridiculous. The table next to us felt the same and our shared laughter certainly added to the friendly feeling of the place! Sadly they chose to eat somewhere else after reviewing the menu. The ‘dressed leaves’ was just a small pile of shredded iceberg lettuce with a bit of sauce on top. The Cajun chicken burger was lacklustre and the steak tough. We had a lovely evening, but wouldn’t eat there again or particularly recommend it.

We arrived as a group following a walk, after having pre-booked. There was a distinct lack of hospitality! No welcome and I don’t think anybody witnessed a smile from the staff throughout the visit. Regarding the food, we only had baguettes but £7 for a small filled baguette with a little garnish seems a bit excessive. Would not recommend this and will not be using this pub again.

When I was in residence as organist at Gloucester cathedral for a week two summer’s ago, a tenor in the choir and I, both Midsomer Murder fans from across the pond, decided to take a long drive to get lunch on one of our free days. The lunch is still memorable to this day and the salad was a triumph replete with fresh golden and red beets beautifully dressed with complimentary greens and chèvre. The French dip sandwich was also beautifully done with the nice addition of an onion ring. With such excellent food and ambience, I highly recommend this establishment.

Nice little pub in a village, fairly busy and worth booking on a Sunday. The menu is limited on a Sunday to mainly roasts. The vegetables come on a separate dish, and the meat portion is large. I ordered the butternut squash risotto, unfortunately the rice was undercooked and hard, also there were courgettes and peppers, which had not been listed on the menu. The toilets are very snug, and so is the height of the roof! The garden looks nice for the summer and there are also tables at the front of the pub. Quirky pieces of Decoration.

I absolutely love the show Midsomer Murders and was extremely excited when my good friend in England took me to this pub where several episodes were recorded. The staff was so kind and shared fun facts and encouraged taking pictures. We had a great local beer and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended

Lovely traditional old pub. Went for a Sunday roast which pleasant, if not slightly on the small side. Definitely needed dessert. Low ceilings, beams, roaring fire all added to the charm of this thatched roof pub.
