Rooms tired and need a spring clean. Our room caused me to have asthma due to very old worn and crusty carpet.Service was all a bit too much trouble. The cocktails at £8.50 were from a ready mix cartoon. The restaurant and bar staff are miserable and not trained in cheerful hospitality.Car parking is an extra charge.Thame is a beautiful place but the stay was an overwhelming disappointment

Very disappointing stay. Our room had several faults which were pointed out to management. Breakfast was shambolic with fragmented service and parts of our order missing. One guess was so drunk and foul mouthed in the middle of the night, shouting and banging on doors. Eventually arrested by police.Overall, a stay to forget.

The staff are so welcoming, you feel part of the hotel family! Shout out to Bryan & Anne and the lovely dark haired lady in the restaurant! Love the rooms, good food and a comfortable stay. Will be back again!

Booked a table for 5 and ordered from the tapas menu. Food was quite good and the service OK. The building is old and tired, the decor equally threadbare. Noticed a planning application for interior upgrade which is desperately needed. Our guests staying overnight gave it 3 stars but gave the bed a thumbs up. Bottled water required for the room kettle as the tap water leaves a scum on the surface of your tea. Will return after the refit.

Booked a last minute night's stay through Secret Escapes and are glad we did. Ann on reception made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and took good care of us throughout our stay. Yes, some parts of the hotel are slightly dated/in need of a lick of paint, but our room was spacious, clean and we had the best night's sleep on a splendid super king! My only reason for 4* and not 5* was due to an error in the breakfast delivery to our room (despite filling out a food form on arrival) and the gentleman who served us dinner, who wore his mask under his nose, touched my cutlery to move it and breathed exceptionally heavily over us (not the standard we expected during a pandemic!) Otherwise, we enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant and relaxing stay and I'm sure will be returning.

Cannot recommend the Spread Eagle enough. Having just got married there, they made the whole process so easy and stress free and they were so attentive on the day. Absolutely every one we came into contact with in reception, the restaurant and events were helpful, attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much. Our suite was beautiful and spotless. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were lovely. Thank you to the whole team at the spread eagle hotel, we are forever grateful.

The staff here are exceptional. EVERYONE we encountered was so friendly and approachable. We were a group of six and given our own table where we wanted it for our whole stay. The hotel has an unusual layout and we were in the garden rooms so had a brief journey outside to get to restaurant. The food was good. The breakfast arrangements were a little cumbersome and chaotic but hopeful they will be able to return to their buffet arrangements once covid is finally something of the past. Rooms are large and have good bathrooms. Personally I like carpet on my bedroom floor but I guess there are benefits to having wooden ones. There are doors and table and chairs outside which must be lovely in warmer weather. A large comfortable bed although could move around a bit! Plenty of hanging and drawer space but rather unusual furniture which wasn't always as functional as could be. We saw 3 rooms and were all different. No 35 probably the best. Getting fresh air in room a challenge as only a large side window which you couldn't limit the opening thereby providing the opportunity for someone to gain access. A bonus was having a small fridgeDon't get this often. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you all.

Quite honestly had the best stay at The Spread Eagle, the rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was enjoyable both breakfast and dinner. The wedding we were attending was set up and planned perfectly by the team. The icing on the cake for our weekend stay has to be the staff, every single staff member couldn’t do enough for you, extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They made the whole wedding party feel so welcome and they really made our stay amazing. THANK YOU to all the team, every single one of you worked so hard and we appreciated this beautiful place even more. Can’t wait to come back 😊

Stayed at the Spread Eagle for 2 nights for a wedding and I cannot fault the hotel or staff at all. The food was lovely and tasty, we dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and the wedding meal was beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the venue was perfect for the wedding. Overall, I needed to write a review as I genuinely have never been to a venue where every single member that worked there was so lovely, nothing was too much trouble and I couldn't fault them. Special thanks to the lovely Anne on reception, and Richard (master of ceremonies) who were a joy to meet.

The only good things during our stay was the food and the bed. The room itself was not very clean and the bathroom was an absolute disgrace. The plughole was so full of hair that it wouldn't drain properly. The toilet seat was broken. Using Covid as an excuse to not service the room was pathetic. Also there were 24 bulbs not working down the corridor to our room which just made a very tired hotel look even worse.
