The Square in South Oxfordshire

I'm glad I went for fish because the fried anchovies were just sublime. I wanted the monkfish medallions as main but it wasn't available so the waiter recommended me the closest alternative. The fish and the prawns were delicious. My friend had the peri peri chicken, but it was a bit too dry. Reasonable prices. I'll be back!

Great food and service. Our waiter was very prompt and recommended some nice wines. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience with our friends for their joint 60th.

Absolutely delicious! Some of the best Portuguese food I've had - despite having visited Portugal several times. Great service and a nice ambience too. Couldn't recommend enough.

Had a birthday lunch here and the staff accommodated very well. Really nice place, food was delicious and the drinks on offer was very nice too. The monkfish and prawns were really nice, and someone at the party gave me some of their beef skewer and it was delicious!

Omg...... And I rarely post but I really cannot express how perfect the food and experience was. The food was without doubt from starter to desert some of the best cooked and flavoursome I have tasted for a long while. Even the rice was nice.... And I don't often do rice..... If I could give more stars I would. Excellent from start to finish.

Happened to walk by and looked at the menu which has everything I love. We went last night for my husbands birthday and had lovely and delicious food and birthday cocktails of course which were fab !Service was fantastic and we were well looked after Definitely will be going back as there is so much on the menu I want to try. Highly recommended and all very reasonably priced 👍🏼

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The best of Portugal. Careful and attentive service. If only the sun had shone rather than a chilly November night...but that's hardly The Square's fault!

Really nice and fresh seafood we had the cataplana for 2 and it looks as good as it tastes. The service was also really good, as we originally wanted to sit outside but a swam of flies kept trying to land on the food so we went back inside. Waiter happily helped us move back inside. All in all good food and good service. Would definately go back.

OK, so, found this place on TripAdvisor and as we were staying the night in Henley we decided to book.No online booking which is a pain, but staff polite and helpful in the phone.At the restaurant the staff were a bit abrupt and the area of the restaurant we were shown to was extremely brightly lit. I asked if they could turn the lights down, which was greated with a grunt which we deemed to mean no.However, good range of food and wine on the menu. We choose the turbot and the monk fish, both of which took some time to arrive (which is usually a good sign) and we weren't disappointed. The dishes were cooked perfectly, tasty and the fish tasted fresh.All in all a good evening with excellent food let down by mediocre service and a poor ambience.
