Balkh Restaurant in Southampton

It was my second visit to Balkhash and this time I went with friends. The food was perfect as expected and Latif looked after us very well. Thank you.

Food as always was very very desi. Authentic Afghani flavours I remember from Pakistan's countless Afghani restaurants. The Lamb tikka boti , the Chappali Kabab , hell simply the naan itself ( this is not the Naan bread - a highly starchy and bready proposition - this is the lighter flakier version). The atmosphere and location are where the star is lost , but if you can look beyond that , I would recommend this place as a good joint. I always take away but one could sit there to eat too.

We got a takeaway deal including a mixed kebab, half chickens, rice and curry sauces. We thought it'd be decent but we were surprised how good a quality everything was for the money we paid. Not finest gourmet but great authentic comfort foodFresh chicken and subtle fragrant flavoured rice (generous portion) was great.The curry sauces were probably the standout items and were packed with flavour which complemented the meat and rice. The veggie curry was surprisingly as flavourful as the meat curry.Slight cons was despite the mixed kebab being tasty and smokey the portion size wasn't so generous. Some of the the food wasn't piping hot (obviously as it had to be delivered).Overall this little gem really surprised me! Recommend it!

Please no one go to this shop !we call them and asked if they can Accommodate 22 people and they said yes ! And they weren’t cable of serving even one person properly They are so rude don’t know how to treat a customers , they did not server anything properly ! Simply waste please don’t go and get disappointed!

I was very intrigued when I saw the name of the restaurant ''Balkh'' as it is connected with the history of my country Bulgaria as well and I have heard a lot about that proud nation which gave also the name of our longest mountain ''Balkhan'', hence Balkan peninsula and also the place where my ancestors came from. The food was more than delicious, I was met with enormous hospitality and felt home. We had a nice chat, too.I hope to visit it again when I go back to Southampton
