Just a shell of it's former self, obviously new kitchen staff that doesn't have a clue how to prepare the German style food that they were famously known for. Just another casualty of the changing times. SAD

I had the tuna, beet salad. Big and delicious. Decor inside was like outta of an old Italian movie...nice, cozy, and just enough class. Waiter was funny and very accomadating. Sliced onions were a nice appetizer. They have one table right outside..maybe 2 that were combined. Not sure as a big family was eating. They do close early during the week....so check hours.

They have an outdoor table but refused to serve us there because they were “too busy” restaurant was 3/4 full. We had a dog with us so we ate down the street at Jobs Lane. Very pleasant. Would eat there instead any day.

Fantastic cozy little joint that serves some of the best authentic German food I've ever had. The Wiener schnitzel is incredibly flavorful, but the bratwurst platter was a real surprise as well! Honestly the amount of food for the price is totally worth it too.One recommendation, make sure you call for reservations; there's not an online reservation system, it's all very old school which is fine! But it was not something apparent to us as first-time visitors. They were really nice about it and offered to squeeze us in, but we'll definitely be back though!

One of the last handful of the original restaurants of Southampton's still thriving and operating in this town! And so happy it is! No clue what these negative nelly reviewers have to complain about. The food is solid and stick to your ribs good, the portions to price ratio is also very balanced plus the waitresses have been there 30-40 years and know their loyal based customer's usual orders over the phone just by hearing their voice. There are old pictures of what the restaurant looked like back in the early days and other fine memorabilia on the walls too.Menu is part German and part Americana but I'm not mad at that at all. Ordered the escargot stuffed into white mushroom caps with delicious generous dollops of toasted minced garlic and butter. The Bavarian combo platter was not too salty at the least bit, the wienerschnitzel a la Holstein came perfectly topped with a fried egg, lovely plump pan seared filets of anchovies and fresh capers. The mashed potatoes was super buttery, the creamed spinach was divine and the saukraut had just the right amount of vinegar fermented kick to keep you coming back for another bite. Loved their lentil and bean soup of the day and I'm usually not a fan of blue cheese dressing at a restaurant but this one was worth licking the plate clean for. Wish I had more space for dessert but that just means we come back for about visit very soon!

Friday night during restaurant week, we were lucky to get in. The meal was fantastic. I had the wiener schnitzel and my wife has the beef rouladen. Both were prepared to perfection. We both worried about the black forest cake when we saw it, but our concerns were unfounded as it also was good. The portion of chicken liver as an appetizer was more than enough.

One of my new favorite places located in South Hampton close to the theatre. Dim calm lighting. Very nice staff and the food was excellent. New York steak was delicious. Perfectly cooked to my preference. Highly recommend if ur looking for a great meal with fair prices.

Wow what a great place for lunch or dinner - they serve special fish of the day, we had cod and flunder as well as clam chowder and burger. Everything were large amounts and fresh, excellent service
