Went there for lunch today. Took a little while because they cooked everything fresh. Chips were really nice, not at all soggy, generous portion size. Lovely batter, nice and crispy, not too thick or greasy. Will definitely go back.

Been coming here since 2011, always a good service. Fish and chipsalways freshly fried. Recommended.Update 2021: Still the best chippy in soton, and they also do fantastic Indian cuisine.

the 5 minutes wait were fruiful, even though as I asked for black pepper on my chips it was too much for them to provide.

Very grumpy man ....I parked in front of his shop with the intention of getting a Chinese from next door for my husband and fish and chips for myself....but he was so abrupt about my parking in his space I decided to have a Chinese as well. No idea if his food is good...but his attitude is bad.

Woman didn't get off her phone, microwaved my pie till it was solid, small portions, tried to overcharge me!!! I would suggest you visit ST James chip shop to see how to run a business!
