Smiles Fish & Chips in Spelthorne

I’ve been going to this chip shop for at least 15 years and it was always the best chip shop around, even when smiles took over from Kings it was still amazing and the proof was in the pudding. The queue’s used to be down the whole parade but it was worth the wait. I kept trying them over the course of a fair few months hoping they’ll go back to what they used to be but the last few times it’s been awful. The worst chips I’ve ever had and again today they were horrible. So much so I just threw it all away and have resorted to writing a review. I must add I never write reviews on anything ever but I feel so strongly about this and I hope people see this and don’t waste their time or money. I wouldn’t even give it a 1 star but you have to unfortunately. The only upside is you get served straight away because there is never a queue anymore. There’s a Jacks fish and chip shop in Shepperton. It may be a lot further away and you may end up with cold food by the time you get home but it’ll still be better than what you get from here.

The best take away Cod and Chips. Always had to wait in line almost round the corner now with click and collect i don't have to wait, so much better. Not to greasy on the chips, alway hot by the time we got home. (5 min drive) batter crispy and fish excellent. My daughter who doesn't eat fish, (she eats everything else) will have fish and chips from Smiles Fish and Chips.

Always have gone to smiles but no more the so called cod was mashy fish not thick flakes as it always has been. very disappointing yes I could have rang and complained but they should know what is good fish or bad 👎

This is the second time ordering, and again the same taste as before. The cod had a weak batter which just meant that we were tasting the cod alone. The chips were not nice and by the time I got home after a 6 min drive home they were cold. I will look for another fish and chips locally

Been going there for 15 years, when smiles first took over it was still good, friendly staff, lovely food etc but now they’re staff are disappointingly unhelpful. Came there at 9PM (an hour before they close) and they refused to cook anything. Chips now taste like cardboard and they rarely have the things you want by 8PM. Absolutely terrible now. Do not recommend.

Very good Fish and chips at a reasonable price. Really enjoyed it. Fast, friendly in shop ordering but I might try click and collect next time.

This was our favourite fish and chips place until the new owners revamped everything. Thing portions became smaller, the fish is a lower quality and now we use it considerably less. The friendly chat with staff and owners has gone in preference to a quicker in and out. The prices went up, no doubt to fund the make over. Still plenty of parking in the service road.

Wow the biggest portion of chips ever. And tasted amazing too. Will definitely be back!

Best fish a chips I've had since my old local in Whitton, been this good for a while apparently (so my parents say) portion sizes are huge and I'm never disappointed. The fish is still nice and crispy which you dint usually get and nice and hot. Staff are all lovely too. Great to see them adapting so well to covid situations. Keep it up guys! Thanks.

Have been eating from Smiles since they opened,always delicious,but on Friday we had Rock,Plaice and 2 cod's and chips,have to say the Rock and Plaice were really horrible,and the chips were like little off cuts,the cod's wee good. I hope that this was a one time experience. I left a message to the management but haven't received any reply, normally a five but a three star review until I try them again.
