Food was amazing. Disappointing that patio was open to smokers. Non smokers would like to enjoy fresh air outside and not stuck inside of restaurant. Beware non-smokers if you want to enjoy the outdoors for dining avoid the Magpie. England seems to be behind the US with out door eating for non smokers. It seems a smoker could hold off for hour to eat and let others enjoy the fresh air without polluting the other diners experience.

Very disappointed with this venue after attending a wake yesterday.Very untidy and cleanliness needed a lot to be desired! Ladies toilet no soap and difficult to attend as stairs to steep to climb if on terrace.Required a coffee but said no milk what sort off venue has no milk!Would not recommend this venue👎👎👎

Lovely aspect of river frontage. A good old fashioned British pub offering a decent menu well cooked. Very good friendly service too. Good value and worth a visit as plenty of parking opposite. Not good for limited mobility as steps to access and interior area on different levels

Every time I come here the owner of the place is grumpy, non welcoming and almost plain rude. First 2 times I was here I gave him the benefit of the doubt but he's like that all the time. Its just because the rest of the staff does actually know how to treat customers, who spend the insane amount of 6 pounds a pint, coming there that I return every now and then. The staff is always friendly with a smile and good service. Unlike the owner who acts like he doesn't want you there in the first place. It is called the HOSPITALITY industry you know.. Stars would be less of it wasn't for the rest of the staff.

Lovely place to sit and have a drink by the river. The menu looks lovely though we didn’t have the chance to try it this time. One issue we found was that there were tiny pieces of broken glass all over the floor around the outside tables, which wasn’t great as we had our dog with us who could have easily hurt himself on these.

Best pub in Lower Sunbury. Not cheap, but great selection of beers, wine and food. Can turn up in a boat and park it by the water. I don't own a boat, or even a kayak, but nice to have the option.Favourite space is the upstairs restaurant.

Lovely old fashioned pub. From sitting outside looked like some beautiful spaces inside. From the Riverside garden it looks like a function room up some very pretty spiral stairs. Was on the bicycles so went in through the side gate. Very friendly person waitressing. Had a cappuccino each. Really nice place to sit for a break in the ride.

Slow service and some plates had come out cold (warm on the outside, cold on the inside). Would not go there again!!! Let’s hope the person reading this has a better visit than mine - on the plus side they did plate up a cracking sausage roll

Nice pub by the river, friendly staff. Good food and a nice atmosphere. Not the cheapest, but you pay a premium for the real estate, I guess. Tables outside by the river.

Great night at the Magpie despite the stormy weather! They are always so welcoming. Manolas is such a great guy, looked after us really well. All the staff are amazing here, always make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Food was delicious and atmosphere just right. It's why I am here so often! Thoroughly recommend 👌
