The thought of having a lovely afternoon lunch by the sea in Deal was so much better than the reality unfortunately. Nice building, great location, Terible over priced food that was served cold and over cooked and even given the wrong order at one point which then took another 15 minutes rectify. There seems to be more staff than customers which doesnt help im sure but left us very disappointed by the whole experience and sad to say shall not be returning.Such a sad shame as location is superb.

Went for breakfast on Saturday morning and ordered the Vegan breakfast from the menu, I watch as the waitress put it through the till and she definitely put it through correctly, when the food came I took a mouthful of scrambled “ogg” onlyto realise I had been served real egg, when I questioned the staff they took it back, came out and apologised and said it was put through as vegetarian which I know it wasn’t. It wasn’t much in the way of an apology and when my food came back out 10mins later the rest of the plate had just been left of the hot plate to keep warm so the beans had dried out, the avocado was warm and the mushrooms were slimy. After such a massive mistake of serving a vegan egg (luckily I’m not allergic) I would have expected a whole fresh breakfast and more an apology then an excuse maybe even a refund for the meal. I felt sick upset and angry all day having eaten egg.Definitely won’t be returning.

If you want friendly, clean place to have a coffee or a meal this is it. The location is beautiful with outside seating on the edge of the beach. Marvellous.

This hotel is set beside the beachfront with a restaurant and bar. This hotel is a homely place. Dogs are most welcome to stay overnight with their owners.I have been here a number of times, requires a full refurbishment but it's a very comfortable place to be.

We only used the toilet as my 81 yo mother was desperate to go after walking and they were very kind allowing her to use the disabled toilet. It seemed a very nice place.Thank You for the kindness you showed to a local resident.

Right on the sea front with plenty of seating the restaurant was great. Fish and seafood dishes were fresh and full of flavour. Service was outstanding!

Family lunch here today. I have lived in Deal for 17 years and remember coming to The Royal at least ten years ago and being very impressed with the whole place, food and atmosphere. The roast dinner we had today we had to ask for another side dish of vegetables as we were given one dish for 3 adult roast meals. We were told that the chef had then specially made another dish of vegetables and also some extra gravy too, as there wasn't too much on our plates already. The decor is tired and the toilet seat not fitted properly in the gents, extractor fan uncovered and full of dirt. It's just a shame to see a once lovely place looking old and not as inviting, and just all looking tired and in need of some TLC. Having the position that they do on the seafront, it feels as though they rest on their laurels with being in such a prime location, that perhaps other areas then don't matter as much? I would come here for a drink with friends and family again but I would hold back on the roast for now, and I do feel that the little, details eg:decor and the tiredness the place in general is such a shame to see it how it is now. Please see these points as constructive and not just a rant. Thankyou.

Been there many times, food and service does not disappoint. Menu is varied with a few vegetarian options. Hotel is decent with a few rooms having a view over the sea. Function rooms are very good for family gatherings, and the buffets they offer for those gatherings are very good.

Wonderful night at the Royal, a gift for my husband for his 81st Birthday. Food was great, so was the drink. Both had a great time. Thsnk you everyone. Xxx

We booked their large function room for a family gathering on a Sunday. The staff were very helpful and accommodating in booking, food ordering, and on the day. The room was great - lots of space for the toddlers to run round. Smaller meals available for small appetites. Children's meals were wolfed down and the puddings gave them an extra boost of energy for the afternoon. A great place for a family event.
