The Indian food was amazing. We had the korma chips and sheez kebab wrap. We were part of a large group without booking and food was prompt. We were in the garden playing on the playground. Its in need of repair, paint and maintenance and the bench was wobbly. Staff were courteous and friendly. We had a great time! My advice would be to reduce and consolidate the menu down significantly as there were over a hundred meals on offer and 4 different menus.

I have been to Peacock lodge a few times and been generally happy. I was very disappointed this evening however. Having booked a table for six, including my two young granddaughters, for 6.30pm, two of us, i admit arrived half an hour late, we waited until about 8:30 before any food was actually served. We had ordered two starters, only one of which arrived. I asked about the second one which seemingly had been forgotten somewhere along the line. A further ten minutes or so elapsed and it did finally arrive. I asked if things could be speeded up a bit for the main course as the two little girls were getting increasingly restless and hungry. Our main courses did indeed turn up pretty quickly.Unfortunately, the food that arrived was overcooked, dry and rather tasteless. All in all I am a very disappointed customer. £100 odd, not, under the circumstances in any way money well spentAs for the waiting staff, who have to bare the brunt of complaints and criticism from customers, most seemed intent on finding excuses such as the fact that they were dealing with a big wedding, or the fact that some of our group had arrived late. I feel an apology might have bee a mre appropriate response. Having said that, when I went to pay the bill, I did receive an admission that things were not as they should have been and a sincere apology, which I appreciate. I would appreciate it even more if my £100 was reimbursed! All in all I am not a particularly happy bunny.

Overall 1st impression was of a pub in a bit of a need of a makeover, but still pleasant and warm.We had a party booking, when seated the area we had was in a far corner, where access to the wall seating bench was awkward and restricted by tables. The menu was an eclectic mix on traditional Britsh, Indian and combination British dishrs on an Indian theme. Food was delivered in relatively good order, but our main course was 20 minutes behind the rest of the group. Food was very varied, some dishes were very good, others less so, where results were not as expected. Buttered Garlic Chicken was more like sweet and sour Chinease takeaway with a hint of garlic. The bar was limited, but had a reasonable selection, I ordered a pint of Doombar, which was clearly going sour. They offered an immediate replacement. I later ordered a 2nd IPA (bottled) same as the replacement, I was bought a different beer, then again offered a replacement, I stuck with it. The toilettes were fair, but the push taps did not hold on and there was no soap in the gents rear toillette. Overall, good value for money but quality was very variable, the facilities tired and a needing refresh. The menu needs limiting and reviewing, concentrate on quality not vast choice. Not my favourite night out.

Friendly staff, our room was very clean, with kettle, hair dryer, porridge pots for breakfast and other basic equipment. Shower was hot. I only gave 4 not 5 stars because a couple of the plug sockets didn't work. We would definitely use again.

Food was okay, prices recently gone up and portions were on the small side, but the service was awful - slow, inaccurate order taking, mains didn't all come at the same time, didn't spot no one had any cutlery. Won't be going back, too expensive compare to other Indian restaurants and service simply not good enough.

Had an excellent curry there this evening. It was reasonably priced and the waiting staff were very friendly and professional. Will definitely be going back soon.

·

Massive food portions which looked impressive until you put it in your mouth! very poor quality, the chicken was pumped up then battered flat and barely resembled the taste of chicken. Very slow service, had to approach the bar between courses just to get served. Could very easily just walk out and they wouldn’t notice. Staff seemed miserable too. And it wasn’t even busy. Not sure we will return any time soon.
