Never had a bad mouthful of food or drink here. Lovely meals, great and cheerful service and a very nice setting. Been going here for a long time and will be going back again.

Update - Feb 2022: Most recent visit was great. Food was amazing: we highly recommend the calamari or mushrooms for starter, and the pork belly or hunters chicken Schnitzel for main. Unfortunately, their selection of desserts was a let down.2nd visit was a bit of a let down: not great service or food, and some items not available on the menu.Good food. Nice setting. Lovely staff. Average menu prices but overall good value for money.

Just got home from a family birthday meal, can honestly say we won't be going back for a very long time!Lots of items from the menu weren't available...... not advised of these until you try to order them. Then to over hear that 1 of the items you were told is unavailable has now been offered and ordered by the table next to you( table that arrived, seated and ordered after you) I ordered the salmon, which had a very strange taste so didnt eat it. Fortunately everyone else seem to be ok with what they finally ended up with, all though I wouldnt say it was value for money or taste! Can I suggest for better customer service/experience the customers should be told of availability when being seated rather than leaving it until they had made their choice! Also when you state you serve icecream with a dessert that you actually but a little more than a teaspoon of it on the plate. And no we/I didn't complain at the time as I was asked not by the family, clearly wish I had!

I was concerned to see the only real ale on was Doombar as since most of its brewing is now in the Midlands near where I live it's been a pale shadow of its former self. It was however very good. I had mushrooms/cheese, belly pork and the apple BlackBerry crumble. All absolutely excellant. Service was also very good, friendly, helpful and not overbearing but present when needed. Fantastic!

Superb pub, lovely warm atmosphere and the food was excellent 👌 Highly recommended. Roast dinners, best I've had for some time

Excellent food and service. The atmosphere was typical of a country pub at lunchtime. Menu is varied but not extensive. We had the legendary Mushrooms for starters, then Fish and Chips and Gammon and the food was cooked to perfection. Prices are what you would expect for a clean tidy quality country pub. Well recommended!

The food was delicious and was served in good time. The staff gave good customer service and nothing was too much trouble. A lovely afternoon enjoyed by all. Would definitely go again.

This is a real gem. We stopped in without a booking and although they were booked up, they settled us in the "bar" area. It was more of a bar lounge, tastefully appointed, probably more comfortable than the dining area. This area did not have a dedicated waitron so we placed our orders at the bar after perusing the comprehensive menu's. Quite a few interesting options on the menu, but as it was Sunday, we were looking for a Sunday roast. They offer quite a few options but I went for the trio of roasts, pork, beef and turkey, and my wife had the lamb. The roasts are all served with roasted carrots, parsnips, potatoes and a serving of broccoli. Plenty of good gravy and a Yorkshire pud rounded off the serving. The food came quickly, was generous and well presented. There was nothing I could say to improve the meal. As roasts go, it was spot on. We looked around the room at what others had ordered and everything looked great. If you are ever in the area, you won't regret stopping at this understated establishment.

Our wedding day made perfect by the poplar farm inn. The food was delicious. The staff were fantastic with the service and kindness the landlady could not do enough for us. We were amazed at the low price of it all. Thankyou so very much

Came in for lunch and the service started off amazing and the lovely lady who had red and black hair was so friendly. However we found after eating we where sat waiting for 15 minutes to try and get someone to take away our plates and order pudding. After pudding we where sat waiting for a while to try get someone so we could get our bill and pay. We also found that the burger description mentions pulled beef brisket, there was none of this on the burger, it was just a standard burger. The food all tasted amazing but was disappointed at the description not being accurate and the long wait time.
